The entire catalogue of my first wave of feature films is available on video demand for streaming and download—eleven features made between 2009 and 2019. This period was the most creatively demented, chaotic, complex and challenging decade of my life and filmmaking practice. I am never sure about anything in general, but I am pretty confident that I will never be able to make such films nor able to due to many factors. However, I now see this body of work as a necessary step in my filmmaking evolution and have come to peace with it as, for years, I found it highly challenging to have them distributed. Nevertheless, they are slowly finding ways to reach the audience, particularly the future audience.
With my upcoming feature, I embarked on and entered new, subdued and poetic aesthetics of cinema, which I need many years to create the body of work I am developing.
So please feel free to watch my old filmography while the new film is released. Onwards!

So delighted and empowered by the presence of my new wall hanging in my home, the original poster of Jean-Luc Godard’s Éloge de l’amour from the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. Living, thinking and making cinema with #Godard every day! Onwards!
We had a fantastic time screening the programme @experimentalfilmsociety curated in collaboration with @feminista.berlin to a full sold-out house. Indeed an astonishing series of short films, and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to present these films in Berlin. The programme focused on five films by five Iranian women* living in exile, and we dissected the process of each film afterwards in an intimate question-and-answer session. Thanks a million to all the wonderful audience who attended and supported our cause. Special thanks to Maryam Katan, Nazgol Kashani, Yasaman Pishvaei, Atoosa Pour Hosseini and Anahita Safarnejad for their superb films.
My personal gratitude goes to Anahita for her extraordinary energy, kindness and marvellous creativity. She’s a dear friend, and I look forward to our future collaborations. Onwards!

Orange 🍊 trees in February.
Orange 🍊 trees in February.
A very decisive and crucial moment in the history of the Middle East and Iran. The country is massively torn apart between clerical and monarchal fanaticism to an extreme level. Both of which are a kind of zealotry in pursuit of absolute oblivion. The two doctrines are two sides of the same coin.
We emancipate because we need to emancipate in the dialectical progression of our time. “Every emancipation is a restoration of the human world and human relationships to a human herself/himself.”

I had a fantastic time meeting my dear friend, a great artist and old mentor, Esperanza Collado, after seven years. Lots of positive and beautiful changes have happened in both of our lives, and it was so great to catch up with all these events. For those who are not familiar with Esperanza’s work, you should definitely check her work. She is truly a force of nature. Onwards!
Amid all this negative news and events about the state of the world, I met and caught up with one of my oldest friends. A dear friend whom I love so much. Martin, AKA Bez. He was my English teacher, and later on, we became pals; he even acted in two of my films over the years. Bez was always there for me, and I was for him when possible. He always supported my cinematic adventures and egged me on. It is beautiful to have people like this in your life who are just happy being a friend and nothing more. Just a good friend, indeed. I am thankful! Cheers, old boy! And life goes on …
Thanks a million to everyone who attended our @experimentalfilmsociety event last night at @wolfkinogang. Special thanks to Kerstin Cmelka (@kerstin.cmelka) and Mario Mentrup (@mariomentrup), who presented the ‘Krampa – Expanded Cinema Version’ to the audience. Also, thanks to anyone who participated in a very intimate and extended question and answer session, I felt we could go on forever.
Finally, our gratitude goes to the incredible team at the #wolfkinogang for hosting and facilitating us. Engagement with the audience to this level always makes everything worthwhile, which I have seen and sensed from our recent events in Berlin, so I thank you all again for attending.
