Stephen Satterfield Instagram – Finally made it to the much lauded Kann and many rounds of applause are in order…or more like a standing ovation for Haitian culinary invocation in a resplendent space oozing with vision and aura…the same of which, ofc, can be said for the soft-spoken chef with the narrative clarity of clairin and precision of veteran chef who worked on the line alongside jean georges in the nineties. Range roving, but Haiti on center stage. Smoked meat over white wood, greens with peanuts and coconut cream, djon djon with the Lima beans…King! So hard for accolades to keep pace with actuality. But here we are.
Alotta yall probably probably don’t know that I used to live in Portland back in the day and probably would’ve stayed many more if Gregory Gourdet had been there back then.
It was the punctuation to a beautiful visit with friends made possible by Laura Gordon, Jesse Lyon and the team from @dwtlaw —shoutout to the gang for bringing me out. I had a blast.
Oh, and stay tuned to the Stephen Satterfield podcast where my interview with chef Gregory will be up in a few weeks. Appreciate the hospitality Chef!
