Thank you so much for profiling me and celebrating the array of geniuses I’ve gotten to know for @Ologies, @cbsinnovationtv & @cbsinventiontv. Truly surreal to hold this issue in my hands. And thank you @adriennelewin for the beautifully written and impeccably researched piece, @vonSwank for taking such incredible pics, and @edwinmonzon for glam, and the @nhm for letting us shoot there. Volunteering at the museum when I was at my most depressed changed my whole life, and I never dreamed that the #WillowhutWednesday posts I’d make from my weekly shifts would ever lead to this. If you’re in a slump, or feel like you don’t know yourself, try volunteering somewhere if you can. Being somewhere you love with a purpose and helping out can really yank us out of a rut, rediscover passions, help us see our worth, and introduce the best people into our orbits. Which is even more rewarding than a magazine cover. But the cover is also pretty friggin’ rad.
