Dear first solo foreign trip,
Thanks. Thanks for scaring me enough to prepare well in advance for what I was signing up for. I could’ve just gone for shoot, finished my schedule and come back safely within the comfort of known surroundings. But I couldn’t have. I couldn’t have missed this beautiful chance life was throwing at me to feel the courage that I have never felt before. I’ve felt helplessness, strength, fear, liberation, joy, pain, gratitude, differences, stillness, similarities and kindness in ways that will fuel me for a long long time.

While taking long walks and multiple tube rides, I came across so many souls. I would happen to meet eyes with so many strangers who I was sharing space or paths with. Some lost in their thoughts, some not giving a damn care to the world around, some having a jolly time with headphones on, some with books and very few who are open to any exchange at all. You’ve to understand, as a girl from a fairly mediocre house hold, who’s only exposure to the world outside India was films, I was hungry for connection. I was eager to know what the world is like outside of the boundaries of where my people live. I’ve been to Thailand once before this for 4 days to shoot for a song in a film, but didn’t plan enough to go around and explore much, I still feel unfulfilled about it somewhere. But this time, I wanted to take in as much as I could, absorb everything my senses could. The smell of the seats in worn out trains, the different sounds in a busy bustling market filled with tourists from all around the world, the sight of little white children playing in the rarity of the sun, the taste of unlimited cuisines from all across the globe and the touch of a little excited girl living in the center of my core who’s always open for genuine conversation and heart warming exchanges.
Energy is such a beautiful phenomenon. A smile or a refusal of one from anyone can alter the present moment in ways we can’t imagine. Travelling will forever be a part of my life.
