Jenny Han Instagram – When my #xokitty co-showrunner @saschagrothchild and I called the cast to tell them we weren’t going to make it to the premiere because of the writers strike, Sang Heon said it felt like he was about to go to the prom, and he wasn’t going to get to hug his parents goodbye. 😭Cue waterworks from me! I worried over this decision for weeks– missing not just the premiere but all the press and the junket too. Sitting down for interview after interview for the first time is intimidating for anyone, but doing it in a language that is not your own is extremely difficult. I wanted to be by my Korean cast’s side and watch over them every step of the way. But looking at them all on the red carpet last night, watching their interviews, seeing them shine so bright– they didn’t need me at all. They did just fine without me. Better than fine. Amazing. And I couldn’t be prouder of them. I definitely cried. And I definitely teared up when I saw @ncentineo and @annacathcart on the red carpet. Noah, you’ll always have my heart for that. Thank you for showing up to support our girl on her big night. And now I am crying again! 😭 To the beautiful cast of XO, Kitty: I can’t wait for the world to fall in love with you.
