Kevin Smith Instagram – The Jersey Girl came to see JERSEY GIRL! @raquelxcastro paid a visit to my beloved @smodcastlecinemas to cap off a Memorial Day weekend full of shows! On Friday, we showed JAWS as part of the Movies That Made Me series. Then on Saturday night, we watched my flick RED STATE. But Sunday saw a reunion with the little girl who, at age 7, preternaturally played the role of Gertie in my sixth flick. We screened what we were calling JERSEY GIRL: The Snyder Cut, because it was the longest version of the flick ever edited, with an entire first act full of @jlo that got cut out due to post-Gigli hysteria. I haven’t seen any cut of JG since 2006, so it was a trip to see the movie I originally made #bennifer two decades ago. Hopefully, @paramountplus will want to stream it in 2024 for the 20th anniversary. It’s almost an entirely different flick. Also entirely different: Raquel, who’s now about 2 years younger than her cinematic Dad #benaffleck was when we shot it. I was happy to discover our troubled film didn’t ruin Rocky, who grew up to be such a wonderful kid with a great head on her shoulders. I can’t thank her enough for a killer kid performance, as well as for making the trip all the way from L.A. to be at #smodcastle with an ardent audience. It was a lovely weekend (with 3 profitable pre-show auctions, thank you bidders), during which I got to wear a trio of different jackets, as well as my new Smodcastle sneakers made by @1craftypunk!
