For Nepal 1 of 2
I’m so pleased to hear that Nepal’s Government have just passed a new Citizenship Bill – this is great news – why? For a number of reasons but one is that now Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) – including Gurkhas – can have dual citizenship.
Currently around 2.17 million Nepalis live abroad, and they send remittance money home to support their families. 50% of Nepalese rely on remittance from family living abroad – this remittance accounts for roughly 30% of the total GDP for Nepal.
The UN has designated Nepal as one of the 46 least developed countries in the word – and currently Nepal is facing an economic crisis.
Research shows people that have moved, migrated or dispersed from their homelands have contributed significantly to the development of their native lands through remittance, technology and knowledge transfer, philanthropy, and diplomacy.
Giving NRNs dual citizenship creates positive change for Nepal and her people – bringing more tourism, investment and prosperity into the country. It means NRNs and Gurkhas won’t have to choose between their country of birth and their country of residence. It’s a win-win for everyone. More tourism and investment means more skilled jobs and a more prosperous economy which benefits everyone – both now and in the future.

Casually summiting Makalu without oxygen – whilst last week we launched @skydivenimsdai with the team and I free falling from 21000ft with the flag of Nepal. Next it’s on to motivational speaking in Bulgaria, talking about how we summit our own mountains in life. And before that I was attending Watches and Wonders for the launch of the new @montblanc zero oxygen watch in Switzerland!
There’s no rest for Nimsdai right now, this is about inspiring and building a legacy.
:- Casual updates on my Recent climbing evolution
1. Only human to climb Everest & Lhotse without O2 in a single day . ✅( I was sponsoring my brother @prakash_is_light_sherpa to break my own record but sadly he got ill and couldn’t complete it this time.)
2. Leader of the first K2 summit in winter. I did it without oxygen. And then returned the following summer to summit it again without o2.

BACK TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Guys I’m back on the ground in Pakistan leading expedition on big mountains.
However, I am proud to say my @eliteexped team, led by @mingma_david_sherpa are on the ground at K2 and busy setting up an extra special mission – the #BigMountainCleanUp whilst I’m on Nangaparbat. This year the focus will be on removing old lines and ropes and cleaning as much as possible.
Working with the @nimsdai_foundation, the team will be heading back up this majestic mountain to do our part to help protect and restore this beautiful environment.
I have said it before, but high-altitude waste is a complex issue – some of it has been here decades. Often storms rip up camps and encase gear in ice. I believe we need education and a solid plan to move forward positively.
My @eliteexped team have zero-tolerance policy to waste and we follow ‘clean as you go’ and ‘leave no trace’ protocols. But sometimes storms can destroy camps and sweep away gear. This is our way of doing our bit, I feel so strongly about this.
It costs a lot to fund this – because it’s not like a littler pick at sea-level – it is much harder at high altitude, so this is a specialised and skilled job. Big Mountains need Big Action.
I’m proud of my team and can’t wait to join them. Follow @nimsdai_foundation for more.

As we walked through the little villages enroute to #Nangaparbat , I met these young kids. They were asking for chocolates and sweets. Immediately it came into my mind about my childhood. I used to do the same; asking for sweets from tourists who were trekking.
Looking back to those humble beginnings and then forward to how far I have come – it was very emotional. And the journey continues.🙌🏽🙏🏽
I want to thank my family, especially my mum and brothers who sent me to a good school after they passed the Gurkha selection, and my mum for bring me up in the way she did.

MARGINS ON EVEREST ARE SO TIGHT – that’s why as exped leader you have to make tough and honest decisions.
Now Everest season is over, here is my 2pence worth as an exped leader with 35 out of 35 successful expeds. ( Nobody in the world has this track record) Climbing 8000ers is no joke. Climbing #Everest is a challenge, and one that can change in an instant – hence you need the best team by your side- able to manage those slight changes on the mountain. All the little things can add up to big things – that’s where my years of experience and UKSF training comes into play as exped leader – I can see all these things and manage the best outcome.
When everything is going well and working together, it can feel like climbing Everest is easy. But the thing people don’t realise is that things can change suddenly and if something goes wrong, it can be fatal. The margin between having everything going perfectly and becoming absolutely fatal is very thin.
Being a successful exped leader with O fatalities under your belt is a tough one– it’s not easy. You have to be fair, harsh and really honest. When I make decisions on the mountain, I purely base my decisions on safety and making sure I keep that client alive. My most important job is the safety of my clients and Sherpas.
My main priority is always my team and clients. I have many DMs asking for our help with other team rescues. While we always do what we can, our first priority is making sure our teams and clients are safe.👊🏽💥

HIGH ALTITUDE ATTITUDE.
Guys, I’m so proud to announce the launch of the new @scarpaspa Phantom 8000 Nims HD. This is THE high-altitude boot – designed by Scarpa and tested and worn by me and my team.
I have worked with the R&D Department of SCARPA for the past two years to make this boot the very best and I have tested it on the world’s highest peaks. They won’t let you down.
The great news is that it has an integrated heating system by @thermickeepwarm able to keep your feet warm!
It has everything you need to climb the 8000 peaks, from it being the only high-altitude boot that is 100% waterproof thanks to the YKK Flex Seal waterproof zip, to the adjustable gaiter at the top made of high-tech fabrics. These have been laminated with the waterproof and breathable HDry membrane to keep you dry and keep the snow out – and there’s integrated RECCO technology to increase searchability.
We wanted these boots to be the ultimate, so I have put all my experience on the mountains into them and Scarpa put all their knowledge and know-how in terms of materials and technologies. They are lightweight, super warm and comfortable, easy to adjust to your exact foot fit and easy to get on and off – and it looks boss too. This is the only boot I wear and trust to achieve the impossible.
@scarpaspa “Working with Nims is incredibly exciting and we’re really proud to be on his side on the top of the highest mountains of the world.”

FOR NEPAL – 2 of 2.
Congratulations to the Nepal Government for seeing the benefits that Non-Resident Nepalis bring to their birth countries and moving to create a future that is more prosperous for all.
Granting NRNs this new legal citizenship, which will be known as the Non- Resident Nepali Citizenship, will allow NRNs to practise full economic, social and cultural rights. I believe it is a step in the right direction towards a more positive and prosperous future for the country. This makes tourism and investment easier – boosting the country and her people and creating highly-skilled and well-paid jobs.
As a poor country, tourism is vital to Nepal. Tourism brings in about 6.7 percent to Nepal’s GDP, while its total impact was US $2.2 billion. In 2019, tourism supported over one million direct and indirect jobs, or 6.7 percent of total employment in Nepal.
Approximately 80 percent of these jobs are in the most remote and resource-constrained regions. This means that the wealth is distributed from central areas like Kathmandu to less wealthy communities including the mountain communities.
This benefits the people of those Big Mountain communities. As a Global Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal Tourism I welcome this decision.

BIG MOUNTAINS NEED BIG ACTION.
This was K2 last year when our @nimsdai_foundation team, led by @eliteexped went to do the #BigMountainCleanUp. Yes, it is shocking. However, high altitude waste is a complex issue – some of it has been here decades.
Waste and rubbish is a huge worldwide issue. From the plastics in the ocean to the land and rubbish clogging fields and hedges to the pollutants in the air and of course, on the mountain. We all need to play our small part in tackling this, and raising awareness globally. As a UNEP Mountain Advocate, I am proud to help raise awareness of the #BeatPlasticPollution movement – a campaign designed to raise the issue of waste from the grassroots to the Government and international level.
The Big Mountain Clean Up is us playing our small part to protect and preserve these beautiful mountains not just for our generation but for generations to come. My Elite Exped team follow ‘clean as you go’ and ‘leave no trace’ protocols on all expeds and they are working with the Foundation and local guides to return to K2 this season to clean further. One key mission will be removing old ropes – these can be deadly if climbers accidently clip on to them.
I believe that by working together we can bring about positive and lasting change. Part of that has to be education throughout all of society from people to Governments about waste and its effects on our home the Earth.

The @skydivenimsdai team had an amazing day celebrating the 70th anniversary of the first successful Mt Everest summit!
We united people from all over the world for this incredible opportunity bringing in more tourism to #Nepal and showing them our beautiful country
We flew the Nepal flag in honour of this despite facing multiple challenges. It took us 2 months to get the required permits and permissions from CAAN, The home ministry, The government of nepal forest and environment department of National park and wild life conservation & CDO of Solukhumbu approval!
Of course this is very time consuming for me and my team, we have been knocking on countless doors to make this happen and If Nepal wants more tourism in the country I hope the government will make this a much simpler process!
Nepal is facing an economic crisis and has currently been ranked as one of the poorest country’s in the world, increasing tourism will bring more income into the country.
Being a global tourism ambassador of the country I request the government to come with up with a much more simpler process for the greater benefit Nepal and it’s people.

reflective blue mirror coating. Plus, they look boss too with the classic alpine look and leather side shields.
They come in two colourways – Matte Black, or my personal favourite – Glacier White.
You will have seen me rocking these across Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Annapurna – trust me these are the real deal.
I would never put my name on a product if it wasn’t the best and something I used all the time. They are #NimsdaiStylish and ready for the Big Mountains.
Plus, these glasses do good too – for the first 48 hours VALLON and I are donating 25% of the total cost to the
@nimsdai_foundation
You can get the exclusive Heron Glacier Nimsdai Edition on my link in bio – £115 / €129.
