My friend @gilesduley is in Ukraine and sent me these images of Ukrainian activists and organizations. National NGOs in Ukraine have only received 0.003% of funds raised internationally. This model has to change to more direct support for local organizations. This strengthens civil society, gives more self-determination to local communities, and ensures all funds from donations go to support the local economy. Local organizations with teams from the communities they represent offer the most effective, dignified and sustainable way to support communities dealing with trauma and recovering from war, displacement and climate change.
Here are a few:
The Women’s March @marshzhinok is a Ukrainian feminist initiative founded by Olena Shevchenko. They run women-only shelters and provide humanitarian aid to women across Ukraine.
Casers @helpukraine_team evacuates people via ambulance from front line and deoccupied territories. They do specialized evacuations of people with complex needs and also provide online doctors appointments and medical aid for isolated communities.
GAR is a disability-led Ukrainian NGO supporting people with spinal cord injuries. They supply high performance wheelchairs and training to help those with spinal cord injuries regain independence.

Refugees are people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country. Above all, they are survivors of the worst and most extreme situations on earth. They deserve our respect. On this day, please take a moment to consider the over 100 million people living displaced. Tens of millions of children. To all my friends who are refugees. I am privileged to know you and I honor you today and every day. #RefugeeDay #WorldRefugeeDay

To all creators-
Everyone can join one way or another. Every customer will be part… And anyone who visits or participates online or at the many events will be a part… but today we are focusing on one part of our @atelierjolieofficial family.
We are asking that you step forward and help us build our in-house team of skilled tailors.
We are looking for tailors who understand quality and creativity. The first atelier is going to be in NYC, this call is for tailors living there. We hope there will be others soon, as we build a global family.
We look forward to reviewing them. Remember, if you don’t hear from us this round, there will be many more rounds and other opportunities to come.
Thank you in advance for sharing your creativity. Be bold.
Love,
Angelina

Bee populations are under threat across the globe due to non-sustainable agriculture practices, climate change, habitat destruction and biodiversity erosion.
Pollinator dependent crops contribute to 35% of global crop production volume. If the precious pollinators, especially bees, disappeared from nature, 75% of all cultivated plants and 90% of wild flowering plants that depend on pollinators would be threatened.
On World Bee Day, I am happy to help raise awareness on the importance of this precious pollinator. By protecting the bee, we’re helping to protect traditional local knowledge, preserve biodiversity, and ensuring the future of communities around the world.

Southeast Asia is one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth. The widespread use of snares is threatening the balance of this environment. Snares are animal traps shaped in the form of flexible noses made of cable, wire, or rope, and have caused a major decline in wildlife populations. Despite this there is some positive news to share. A Zero Snaring campaign was launched in Cambodia last year and has resulted in the removal of an estimated 40% of snares, and the confiscation of 50% of homemade guns, in protected areas like the one where my family has worked with a local team for over twenty years to try to slow deforestation and protect the forest and its wildlife. Our MJP team has camera traps in place at night to monitor wildlife activity and send these recent images
