400 days of reliving a daily nightmare. 4 decades of indifference from others, oppression within, starvation from war, indignity from it all. There has to be a path to joy. A path to freedom from this unconscionable amount of suffering.
I’m so angry, but I’m going to do my best to channel that anger into concrete steps and help the young women having their entire lives blown up by the terror regime that is the Taliban. A simple step you can do today is join me in emailing the UN Security Council & requesting harsher travel restrictions and a quick response to The Talibans latest human rights violation against girls and women. If this statement from their “Minister of Education” doesn’t motivate you to type up some emails, I don’t know what will. Who would have thought, a political refugee, who wanted to become an actor of all things, would end up gracing the boards on Broadway. 🎭 Goodbye to hands down the hardest, most rewarding, wonderful, exhausting, heart building, heart tearing experience to date. 134 shows (5 missed) living in the truth of each moment, whatever was there on the day. Undoing and becoming all at the same time. Living with the most wonderful company and creatives filled with authenticity, grace, humor, talent. I made a home here (🐾🐶 did too) on this stage with these people and will be forever grateful, forever changed. 2022! An incredibly creative, heart expanding year. I felt so celebrated and loved. But our hearts expand in both joy and suffering. We lost a giant in our life to mental illness, we watched young women all over the world, specifically for me in Iran and Afghanistan, fight to the literal death for their rights. We try and help, try to love a little more, grow in the right ways. Experienced new dreams, lost love, and failed all in the same cycle of breath. This year I was able to look around and feel completely aligned in the moment, understanding that I was experiencing a moment of abundance. That was new for me, and I’m grateful for it. Even the moments that split me in half, I’m here for you. Just do me a favor Universe, protect our most vulnerable and try and let the world sway towards them with joy and happiness for a while. We all need it, we all do deeply deserve it. May joy and success and love rain down on all of you. Thank you for sharing so many of my successes and heartbreaks with me.
