Cathy Cat Instagram – Do you know what a Japanese “Daruma” doll is? You see a big one in the pictures but what are they? These dolls are a symbol of good luck and fortune. Before displaying them, the owner colors in one eye and makes a wish. When the wish comes true, the second eye is coloured in. For some it’s also a reminder of your own life goals.
Gunma Prefecture (where we shot the recent hot spring video) is famous for making these daruma dolls.
They had a gigantic Daruma displayed at the new Matoi Hostel and Bar when we went to shoot there. Thanks again Matoi and Tsunoda Stylings for inviting us to come to Gunma Prefecture!
