Cathy Cat Instagram – 1-3 which pic is best? Do you have a spring tradition btw? Here’s the story: This is our first snap result from the 2023 Ask Japanese Cherry Blossom 🌸 Photoshoot and by now it’s become a real tradition.
I remember when the director and I were just fresh colleagues and did our first Sakura shoot in Tokyo. He was just learning how to do portrait pictures and not flower pictures. I was learning how to pose and I remember desperately trying not get my first few brand dresses dirty while shooting 😂 I think I tuned a pair of brand new shoes but thinking about it now, it was worth it.
This year I realise it’s become a tradition to try shoot Harajuku fashion pictures underneath the cherry blossoms in Japan. I’m grateful I got the chance again to do it this year. The dress I am wearing has significance for me too, it was one of the first brand dresses a friend in the UK allowed me to borrow for a shoot. It was the first dress that gave me confidence to wear pink. Until then I had always thought I would looks stupid in it. Once I came to Japan I found the same dress a few years later, now I own it and can wear it for shoots in Japan. I was kinda moved realising how this very dress has meant a lot to me over the years, same with the photoshoot.
I hope this spring Sakura Photoshoot tradition can continue for many years, as we learn and grow. It’s sometimes good to stop and reflect on what we have, and never get number by routines.
