I can’t believe it’s the 10 year anniversary of Man of Steel! The memories are rushing back, seeing everyone share today. Before the premiere, Dee and I had been swamped in production on his first feature so I quickly ordered a dress online and ran to DSW to grab a pair of shoes that morning. We couldn’t get a cab in the rain so ended up taking the subway and showed up soaking wet, trying to dry off in the lobby bathrooms – you can still see raindrops on my dress 😂 I was shocked I was invited at all and had no idea I was going to walk my first red carpet until I was being escorted down it. This was my best fake-it-till-you-make it attempt 💛 It was a truly special, magical night of fun and treasured memories. Still makes me smile thinking about it ☺️ #happyanniversary #manofsteel

We lost our beloved, incredible, one of a kind Grandma Rose on Friday. I got to toast to her life with my wonderful mama at one of Grandma’s favorite restaurants after we spent the week by her bedside. I am admittedly spoiled and hit the jackpot in the mama and grandma department. I am so grateful for every precious moment. The world, and our family, lost one of its very bright lights this week. She left us in the midst of a wild storm, lightning filling the sky as tornadoes whipped through the Midwest. I’m pretty sure she rode off on a storm cloud; a burst of lightning heading on to her next adventure. Wherever she’s going, they’re in for a great time with that Rosie. Whooowee! This woman is such an example of living life to the fullest. “Don’t sweat the small stuff” is what got her through what admittedly was often more than small stuff but her positive attitude, persistence and joy carried her through almost 98 years. She played tennis until she was 90, kept up her china painting until the very end and was in the middle of prepping for her next show. Here’s to Rosie and to living life to the fullest, down to the very last drop. Boy will we all miss you ❤️❤️❤️

New York has always held a big part of my heart as the city I came of age in and this week, my heart was filled to bursting with joy being back. Joy seeing @diarraoni, having spent years planting and nurturing, now enjoying the incredible blossoming of her efforts in the so delightfully wonderful series she wrote and starred in that premiered at Tribeca, Diarra from Detroit. It’s @betplus’ first original series and is such a fun, surprising, poignant murder mystery – you will not be disappointed, please check it out (You can also catch @harrylennix in future episodes)! Joy seeing friends who’ve held huge parts of my heart for over half of my life @heemahaw @ebonihogan @abbihawk @kingcaits, catching up as if no time has passed. ❤️🥹 The magical joy of NYC, bumping into people on random street corners, like Caleb, an old high school friend from Pittsburgh, @natalieknepp and the oh-so-graceful and lovely @baileybass, who I had not seen since she was a child in @demetriuswren’s film Moon and Sun, and here she is now, in the midst of a flourishing career (hello @avatar!) and beginning her journey as a business owner and content creator. 💪💪💪 I also enjoyed seeing Cold Copy directed by @roxinehelberg starring a fantastic @traceeellisross @belpowley and @jacobtremblay, Downtown Owl starring @lilyrabe who also directed with @therealhamishlinklater, Ed Harris and @vanessahudgens and He Went That Way with @zacharyquinto and @jacobelordi , at Tribeca all from really creative artists with beautiful storytelling styles. My heart will be full and inspired for a long time ❤️. Talk about going to the well! Our lab is a free, six month intensive that will elevate 12 woc filmmakers’ work from initial concept through final delivery of a short film. They leave with the support of a community of women that they have gone through this experience with and will have advanced skills and a product to help take their careers to the next level.
