The last day with my wonderful jury! Closing night for me is always a bittersweet experience. Not because it’s the end of an exciting week. But because we have to award a few of the talents and disappoint many others. I am always awkward when I see anticipation in the eyes of the nominees, as they wait for the verdict. This is the most difficult part of being on a jury. To sit in judgement of other people’s work without knowing their challenges and struggles is difficult. Having to choose from what can never be a level playing field, films that are almost incomparable, seems unfair. But that’s the nature of the beast.
And that’s why when I am on the other side, I try not to attach myself to wins or losses. Just enjoy the journey of making films and share it with all those you can. बस!
