Happy 50th parents ~ now you’re “Golden” once on being asked what the secret to a long marriage is, my mother answered – love, and I think my fathers was – the wife is always right. That’s the long & short of it !!
To my GIANT of a Mama Happy Birthday ~ from you I learn that it’s the size of the fight in a person that is the only size that matters. Love you x
I opened a drawer today, ostensibly to clean it and all my memories spilled out. Who would have thought way back then that this little boy with a cheeky grin would have his first movie poster out today ? And his sister barely even 13 in the picture would turn out to be such a force !? When your children grow up and you start slowly moving to the sidelines as they forge their own path it feels like you’ve taken your whole heart and and left it out of your body unprotected, how frightening but there is no way around it. I guess this is what life is all about; letting go x
I met Abu & Sandy when I was just 12 a very shy awkward tween totally uncomfortable in my skin. Through them I was introduced to a world of colour fabric style design and irreverence! They were young and audacious with the largest hearts ! They coerced a woman out of a wilful girl. They continue to do it even today. I love this picture, we tried to pose and be composed but erupted into peals of laughter and it encapsulates our relationship completely. They do serious stuff but without taking themselves too seriously. Oh and Navya ~ welcome to their mad world x
A night well spent – some friends some family some crazy fashion ( my vintage Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla dress that I squeeezed into ) the show stopper was Mr J, in all his jewels!!! And most importantly many kisses from my mama 🫶🏽 Congratulations Abu & Sandy on the new drop ! Love always ♥️♥️

Kyoto when it rains ~ it wasn’t the perfect day to visit, it wasn’t the right time either, we just caught the fag end of cherry blossom season. My shoes were soaked through and I am not a fan of the rain, but the Japanese have a term ” kintsugi ” a metaphor for embracing flaws and imperfections. So in that spirit we set forth and actually had a wonderful time! I feel if I am to ever learn patience it will be here where the people are so mindful taking time to enjoy the smallest things. Our guide insisted we visit the Starbucks built inside an ancient home, the old street was charming and so clean but most importantly no one was in a hurry, but me, I was dying to write this all down before I forget. 🌸

Taken from a bullet train Shinkansen, Osaka to Tokyo. Though travelling at an incredible speed inside is so smooth your coffee wouldn’t spill if you put it down on a table. I fell asleep only to open my eyes, and out the window was Mt Fuji, unperturbed with all the frenetic activity around it. As if on cue the song Freedom starts playing – it was a heady mix, an emotion as close to euphoria as you could feel when you’re a little older and jaded and wonder doesn’t come so easy.

Father dear @amitabhbachchan I see your post & raise you one x 😝
“this picture of me reminds me of you” my mother texts me. I disagree, she looks like herself, her unique self. A still from her movie, their movie Abhimaan, my parents’. I love it when she tells me stories about the making of these magical films, especially the ones where she is paired with my father. I lose track of whether they were sweethearts during the making or newlyweds or expectant parents or then new parents. How fantastic to think of your parents having a life beyond what they have come to represent to us today. I looked for myself in her but I cannot for the life of me find a resemblance. Sometimes I find my daughter in there somewhere. I love this image – my mother so young a whole life ahead of her full of things to do and achieve. And so many years later still doing still achieving !! (Thank you Prashant and Kirti Sarkar for this lovely image of my mothers and the memories it brought with them, ever grateful x )
Have you heard ? The gang’s all here and they’re headed to Brazil !!!! Congratulations and knock ’em dead. 🩵
When you’re told to take a long walk off a short pier, I hope to god it’s this one 😝
