MYLI I hadn’t known loyalty, I hadn’t known growth, Sacrifice and patience, your love taught me both. Myli crossed the rainbow bridge April 5th and to be honest I can’t say it’s truly really sunk in. Celebrating her has been a gift to us both as love has shown itself to us in a way I couldn’t ever have imagined. But that is what life is supposed to be. LOVE – celebrated loudly, boldly and unapologetically. Myli gave me that. 16 years of it. And so many deep connections grew stronger because of her. This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Last month was probably one of the hardest experiences of my life to date. For 38 years mami has been my biggest support through all of the unexpected tears and of course there for all the happy ones too! This is a quick recap of celebrating the fragility of life after Myli crossed the rainbow bridge. I found a hotel in Santa Barbara called ‘Hotel Milo’. Mami had never visited and that was a pretty good sign we should go along with a quick stop in Solvang! ☺️ I don’t know how I could’ve made it through those days without her. Through life without her. I am forever grateful. We got to surprise her today with something fun! I can’t wait to keep celebrating the amazing mami she is! Te quiero mucho Mami! LOVE. That’s what this journey has been about. Love for the best freakin’ family. Love for my super supportive and thoughtful friends. The love for my sweet baby Myli. The love I have for all of my passions. The love of discovering new ones! And most importantly for me, the gentle, carefully constructed love I have discovered for myself. It hasn’t always been easy to greet myself with the same love others saw in me. Writing that out and admitting it feels like I’m letting young Val down. But it was my process. My lessons. Starting this week FULL of gratitude and bursting with excitement. We’re headed abroad to celebrate my moms 70th birthday and a lot of different firsts! I love surprises so I feel like it’s Christmas except Hector and I got to play Santa for our parents instead. Years of talking about this, months of planning and weeks of taking care of all the details. We pivoted from our original plans but this turned out better than I could’ve expected. I. Cant. Wait. There’s a lot to be grateful for and plenty of things contributing to those smiles. Looking forward to celebrating life this week – for all of us. 🥰

Sitting here in a deep state of nostalgia and a lot of emotion. Haven’t had the time I wanted to make this until now. Myli’s Sweet Sixteen birthday was on the 21st and whew I am oh so grateful my sassy lil love bug is still sharing this earthly journey with me. Because man has it been a journey! She’s traveled with me all over the US and abroad and has snuggled with me through heartbreak and huge successes. She’s the closest I’ve ever gotten to the purest, most loyal love I’ve ever known. It’s been hard (this last year especially) seeing her age and go through a few complications but making this reel filled my heart with so much joy. We’ve seen and done and experienced a lot together. My word for 2023 was -Experiences- I rang in the New Year at a lantern festival (something I’ve always wanted to do & want to do again!!) and there’s been so many amazing, new, fulfilling experiences since then. This hike is the most recent! My friend @giancarlodamiani84 took my word to heart and has been inviting me to live up to it since.
