Wang Yu Ping Instagram – When spring was here, Yang Teng-Chi (Manbo Key) and I discussed the project “Plastic Rituals Ā bǐ bǎi.”, and we immediately fell into a daydream about roaming the mountain city of Dongshi – where Manbo grew up and also my mother’s hometown – and this inspired the beginning of our creation with curiosity and entanglement. We shared our rural memories of Dongshi—the nameless small paths, secluded dental clinics, run-down theaters, the courtyards and furnishings of our grandparents’ homes, and the coded messages and stories passed down in the countryside. These memories colored ambiguously in our minds, at times vibrantly, and other times quietly. Manbo anchored this ambiguity, while I molded performative non-narrative contours within it, which then developed into various creative expressions through video and photography.
春天剛來的時候，楊登棋（登曼波）和我談起了《塑膠禮儀 Ā bǐ bǎi 》的計畫，我們隨即墜入了一場漫遊在東勢這座山城的觀想。東勢是曼波成長的所在，同時也是我的母親的家鄉，這樣的關聯性讓創作的開端充滿好奇與連結。我們彼此分享東勢之於我們的鄉村記憶，那些無名的小徑、私密的牙醫診所、殘破的戲院、外公外婆家的庭院與陳設、鄉野間流傳的暗號與故事。這些記憶在腦海裡的顏色曖昧不明，時而鮮豔時而靜謐，登曼波為這樣的曖昧定錨，我則在其中捏塑了非敘事的表演輪廓，遂發展成錄像、攝影等創作表現。 | Posted on 21/Jun/2023 19:30:53
