Caption : LONDON// I took a couple days to process what we did last week at Wembley Arena. (if you were there, comment here with your fav moments) I grew up dreaming about performing in front of thousands and thousands of people, all singing together. I’ve had moments where I’ve thought this pursuit is tied in with ego, but a dope conversation I had with someone recently beautifully reminded me that the core of this pursuit is an act of pure love: surrendering, being a vessel with music being the magically unstoppable force of nature, healing. London, I still can’t fully put into words all the feelings y’all inspired when we sent up beams of deeeeep love into the universe 10,000 people strong, but one that def comes to mind is gratitude. What made this show feel especially magical for me was how it truly represented a coming together of all aspects of what makes me me; y’all had the room glowing when we performed Do the Dance, sang your hearts out to songs like Tharame and Kannana Kanne, lost your minds when the low end dropped on the Kannalane remix, and rocked out to songs like Inkem Inkem, Thalli Pogathey and Samajavaragamana. Shout out my brothers @tapassnaresh, @sanjeevtmusic, @ramkuu, @hashbass, @theorganboy, @evanguymandude, @nikhilvpai, @vjkaycee, @soheldantes, @vinod_ld. 3 hours non-stop, all fire no skips at all, no fluff just a group of guys having the time of their lives playing music, going hard. Shout out everyone involved in making this show possible London, thank you for making my first trip to the UK nothing short of legendary. I’ve been seeing all the messages and i’m humbled. I went out to Bhagalpur to be a part of the wonderful @moitrashantanu’s #songsoftheriver project. For me, this project was a leap of faith. Shantanu and I had never worked together before, but a couple months prior we did a zoom call, where he explained to me the essence of his project where he’d cycle from Gomukh (source of the Ganga) to Gangasagar, making music and telling stories along the way. Even through a video call I could feel that his energy was magnetic, brimming with curiosity and love. When we finally met in person, his energy and perspective were even more powerful/inspiring. As we floated on the Ganga, we spoke about life, music, resilience of the human spirit, the universe. He spoke of the importance of meeting people without an agenda, other than being open and taking in new experiences. The beauty of uncovering and telling stories untold. The whole team he had assembled for this project moved as a family unit. everyone operated from a fundamental foundation of love, and they all embraced my dad and I with pure warmth. The four days I spent with these folks will forever be etched in my heart. The song that was created over the course of these days is a product of this unfettered energy. On our final evening together Shantanu left me with words that have been playing in my head since, “numbers don’t have faces” he said as we watched the sunset, sitting on a small boat swaying on the Ganga. Caption : When I first started writing “all love, no hate” it was a reminder to self to not fall into a space of negativity. It was right around the time my career starting picking up. We’ve come a long way since then, and the mantra has only become more central to everything in my life. When it’s treated like a sanctum, the stage can be the most powerful space to radiate true, sincere positivity. Malaysia, since the first time I set foot in your country back in 2016, y’all have showed me true love. This last weekend was nothing short of real magic. back to back nights, a sold out stadium of 10k ppl each night. We sang, danced, jumped, screamed and felt thru a whole range of emotions TOGETHER. I hope you know that all of you that were there on those two nights are at the very core of the start to something really special. If there’s anything I believe in, it’s that right now the world needs sincerity in its purest form. Caption : I love singing at the Kapaleeswar Temple. Last night when singing there, I felt such a deep resonance. Normally after my concerts, I post some clips of the musicians and i performing on stage. Today I got sent some video clips of a siddha purusha experiencing the concert and dancing. these two clips had a profound impact on me. The perspective switch from performing on stage, to watching someone else immersed in the music with an abandon is special. Last night felt like a blessing and a personal reminder as to why I love doing this. Loved being on stage with Vidwans Sri S Varadarajan, Sri J Vaidhyanathan and Sri @ghatamkarthick. Caption : ////Some moments from Erode that I found from fan posts on Insta/// The world is getting pulled outward in every direction. The universe is getting pulled outward in every direction. Each of us has a microcosmic relationship to the universe We’re all getting pulled outward in every direction What were we gifted with though? One thing that comes to mind is sentience. Our unique ability to marry emotion with logic. How powerful it is. And how profoundly heartbreaking it is that we rarely use it for good. It needn’t be that way though. There are enough people that believe primally in the potential that can be tapped into only through intense goodness and integrity. I’m constantly reminded of the beauty that comes from a commitment to not only the pursuit of excellence, but also the pursuit of truth. The beauty I speak of is deep, naked and fiery. It is not always nice, but it is always noble. It’s not always aesthetic, but it is always honest. Couple days ago during our show at Erode, I consciously tried to make eye contact with as many people in the audience as possible. Maybe it’s just the constant barrage of information by way of the internet, but it feels like increasingly the world is cracking at many of its most deeply rooted fault lines. Pressure building as more and more of society’s most fundamental ailments scream louder and with more despair, with no real solutions forward being built. So, I find myself (like many others I’m sure) searching for goodness in any and all places where I think I can find it. Part of the search is a selfish need for respite. But I think the other part is driven by the belief that people experiencing instances of goodness is what will allow for the a-ha moments to show us a way forward. These last couple shows felt like a throwback to when we first starting doing our shows at the Lady Andal auditorium in Chennai.
