Alan Ritchson Instagram – My kids and I were playing a game last night and they couldn’t seem to get along. Each of them tried to quit and walk away at some point. I wouldn’t let them. “Ritchson’s aren’t quitters,” I’d say sternly. I made them stay and continue playing.
I lasted as long as I could, but as the outbursts continued eventually even I lost it on them. I said mean things as I stormed off.
I woke up feeling awful, of course and had to be to work early, so I left them a letter. @catritchson sent me this picture shortly after they woke up…
I guess I’m sharing this to encourage any other idiot fathers like myself to apologize when the inevitable need arises. Studies have shown we don’t do it enough and it deepens the parent-child connection when we do. If nothing else, the feeling of seeing their hand-drawn forgiveness is pretty priceless and seems to have the power to soften even the hardest corners of a heart. | Posted on 11/Jul/2023 23:59:31
