🐾 I can’t get enough of the adorable moments when my 3-year-old uses words like “shelter,” “foster,” and “adopted” while playing with her toys. Since we started fostering cats, my little ones have become so curious about the animal rescue world! 🌟
Recently, I discovered a heartwarming book series about rescue dogs that has been an absolute gem for my kids. The series strikes the perfect balance for a read-aloud with my 7-year-old and my 3-year-old loves listening along too.
📚 The first book we read, “Millie, Daisy, and the Scary Storm,” follows the touching story of two bonded dogs in their foster home. Daisy gets anxious during thunderstorms, but her furry friend Millie is there to comfort her. When they overhear their foster humans talking about a big adoption event, Daisy becomes worried. Will they have to leave their home, and even worse, will they be separated?
💛 This captivating series is based on the true heroes Danny & Ron, who founded @dannyronsrescue in 1995 after Hurricane Katrina. Their inspiring work has saved over 13,000 dogs from euthanasia, and they also provide essential pet supplies to elderly folks living in poverty so they can keep their beloved pets.
I love how this book series resonates with our own experiences and nurtures empathy in my kids. It’s heartwarming to witness them connect with the characters and the real-world heroes behind the story.
