David Lynch Instagram – #IndependenceDay is a time to celebrate our freedom and honor the sacrifices of those who have protected and preserved that freedom.
Unfortunately, some of our traditional celebrations can negatively impact those very Veterans we intend to honor. Our program partner’s at the @deptvetaffairs remind us that “Fireworks can be traumatic for those who served in combat or went through a fire, explosion or gun violence. Whether expected or unexpected, fireworks can cause distress.”
In this video, US Army Veteran Melvin Brown’s family details his struggles with PTSD and sound sensitivity. Melvin was able to overcome his symptoms through the trauma-reducing effects of #TranscendentalMeditation, and save himself and his family life.
