When I began rapping, I had a poster of Drake on my bedroom wall above my closet where I would record. It might have been a weird thing to do because I was an adult man hanging up a picture up of another similarly aged adult man, but from the second I heard Drake, he was my biggest inspiration. Watching and listening to him over the past decade was always a constant source of motivation for me. Whenever I needed a battery in my back, this guy would put out a new song or album that would blow my mind and make me rethink what music could and should be. He is the soundtrack to my ambition.
I could go on and on about how important of an artist he is for our entire generation, but allow me to take this moment to talk about my experience with him on a human level. I have loved him from afar for a very long time for what he meant to me artistically…but upon meeting him and spending time with him, I love him way more somehow. What a genuinely good guy. They say never meet your heroes, but whoever said that has never met Drake. It was such a joy to hang out, as we got to make this moment happen. An absolute dream come true. I’m just gonna come on here and shoot it straight. We don’t make this show for awards, we make it because we love to tell stories, make you guys laugh, and emotionally connect whenever and wherever we can. But I’ve been informed that it’s award voting season, and normally there would be some For Your Consideration event where we’d sit on a panel and talk about who knows what. And to be honest, normally this show would get overlooked in every relevant category, and I would mind my own business and pretend not to feel confused as to how a show this over the top special could be unacknowledged on the biggest stage/night in TV.
But this year, even if it falls on deaf ears, I will go out screaming to the world one very important thing. This man Gata deserves every single ounce of consideration that this industry has to offer for best supporting actor in a comedy. Nobody in the universe can do what he does. He bares his soul every single time. He takes what’s on the page and makes it SO MUCH BETTER by making it his own. He gives us raw glimpses into his own trauma. I’ve seen it first hand how much it impacts people who watch this show.
Whether he’s making you burst out laughing, or making you burst into tears crying, he’s always making you feel something. So as a result, I feel no shame pushing this so passionately, because I know there are no parallels for what this man does for this show, I don’t care who else is in the running. I do not give a fuck!
He is the heart and soul of this very special thing we make. And I know what he’s been through to get here. And I want to see him celebrated as one of the best in the world at what he does because that’s what he is, objectively. I have literal recurring dreams of him up on that stage. And I know it’s usually best to keep these validation based thoughts to myself, but I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut this time around. I’m a seeker of justice, what can I say. Anyways, hopefully someone considers what I’m saying. No matter what, we’ll keep going this hard forever and ever. But you’ve got my vote @gedgata and I love you and am so proud of everything you’ve put into this art that we’ll forever look back on.

If you know me, you know I used to cancel every plan I had to watch Davidson when @stephencurry30 was there. I’ll never forget the first time I saw him play. Honestly, it rocked me. I had never seen anyone play the game the way he did, except for myself. But I had never seen it on a division one level. Couldn’t imagine it in the pros.
If you also know me you know I grew up reading @stephenasmith in the Philadelphia inquirer for my whole childhood. I used to read the sports section every day.
Fast forward 15 years and Steph is one of the best players ever and Stephen A is the biggest name in sports media. I know I speak for all three of us, when I say last night it came full circle. For all of us. Never stop dreaming.
