I don’t recall exactly when he became my “old” buddy – probably back in 1999, when I first realized that I had a friend who I had known for over 20 years. For some reason, that struck me as significant, and so, for reasons entirely colloquial, I began to call him my “old buddy.” Well, today, my old buddy turns 60, making my description of him a lot more accurate and a lot less colloquial.
