When I chose the name OPIA, I wanted it to reflect on the very intimate, vulnerable relationships of creative collaboration. It refers to the ambiguous intensity of looking someone directly in the eyes – described brilliantly in The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.

In 2019 I hosted the first and only OPIA Festival at the Southbank Centre in London. We had plans for more but the pandemic put a pin in it. I am particularly excited to see it re-emerge today as OPIA Community – A travelling festival, record label and community hub.
In an age of social disconnect and streaming algorithms I’ve felt an ever growing need to create a place for people to meet, to talk and create, to inspire and be inspired. My hope is that OPIA can host an environment where creativity thrives through real life experiences and connections.
To mark this new beginning, I’ve gathered a few special friends to join me for a celebration of this new and revitalised OPIA. Join us at @silent.green in Berlin on October 18 where I’ll play an intimate, one-off improvisational show with friends, along with performances by @j0fridur and @sofipaezmusic.
