Hi there,
I want to thank you all for your beautiful, caring wishes for my speedy recovery. Everything went really well. My healing is on track and I’m feeling better every day. The band and I can’t wait to get back to playing in a few weeks. I’m so sorry we had to postpone our shows and apologize to those of you who won’t be able to join us for the rescheduled dates. I so appreciate your support and hope you can come see us another time.
Happy early Mother’s Day to all the moms, and honoring our grandmas’ lineage too! Who’d we be without them? So many thanks.
Very grateful to bring good news,
See you soon!
Bonnie 💜
One year ago today, Bonnie and her band performed “Blame It On Me” on the @colbertlateshow. This is the only television performance of this song to date! It’s from Bonnie’s award-winning album, ‘Just Like That…’. Check out the full performance at the link in bio.

Wishing my dear big sister, @mavisstaples, a very Happy Birthday today! Can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by sharing her strong and steady message of love, respect, justice and equality so powerfully espoused in this performance of her song, “Turn Me Around.” It’s as relevant a clarion call today as it was when she and Pops and the Staples Singers sang it during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s. This performance, with Bonnie joining in, is from her tribute concert, “Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There” filmed in Chicago on November 16, 2014.
Safe travels to you, dear heart, and the band and crew during your tour this summer and fall. Miss you and love you so much! 84 looks good on you, baby—keep it up! Happy Birthday! -Bonnie, your baby sis.

Remembering my Dad with so much love, fond memories and great admiration on Father’s Day. You can enjoy going through his life and career a bit on JohnRaitt.com, but here is a highlight clip the team at BRHQ put together to share a bit of his magic…
Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful Dads, Bonus Dads and Grandads out there!
Love,
Bonnie
Thanks to my longtime friend and inspiration, @chrissmithermusic, for being my special guest, at our show last month at the @chq1874 Amphitheater in upstate New York. What a great pair!

Bonnie and the band are heading across the pond, starting the next leg of the Just Like That… Tour in Dublin, Ireland with a sold out show at @vicar_st on June 1st before a run of shows in England (including the @blackdeerfest!) Here’s a throwback to a performance for the BBC in 2013. Legendary Irish singer-songwriter @paulbradymusic joined Bonnie and the band on “Marriage Made In Hollywood,” a song he co-wrote with Michael O’Keefe, recorded by Bonnie for her 2012 album, Slipstream. Tickets for the tour are available at the link in bio.

Rest in peace, dear @itstonybennett. One of the greatest singers of all time, and one of the warmest, most joyful and evolved people I’ve ever known. One of the honors of my lifetime was getting to duet with him on his Bennett Sings the Blues album back in 2001. My love and sympathy go out to his family and don’t we know there’ll be some swingin’ on high when Tony passes through those gates.
Thanks to my dear pal, @maiasharpmusic, once again knocking ’em out as my special guest opening our recent shows in Louisville and Indianapolis.
She debuted new music from her upcoming album, Restless Thoughts. Check out her new singles and stay tuned for more!

“The key to playing this song is to keep the guitar sparse and supportive, and let the powerful story sink in.”
@acousticguitarmag has published a feature on how to play Bonnie’s @recordingacademy GRAMMY-winning Song of the Year, “Just Like That.” Beyond the underlying chords, they break down the added embellishments, voicings, and subtle variations to perfectly match the song itself. Read more about that at the link in bio.

The Ireland/England/Scotland leg of the Just Like That… Tour is off to a terrific start! Bonnie is so grateful for this rave review in The @guardian but wants to also acknowledge the crucial contributions to the success of these shows from her stellar band and crew. Knocking it out of the park every night is her longtime rhythm section, Hutch Hutchinson @brbassman (bass), Ricky Fataar (drums); new members Glenn Patscha @glennpatscha (keys), Duke Levine @thedukelevine (guitars), all of them singing backup as well. Equally brilliant are her sound and light team, aided by an incomparable stage and production crew. Not for a moment does she feel she got here by herself.
Hope you can catch one of the next seven shows (including Bonnie’s only festival appearance in England at @blackdeerfest in Kent on June 17th!) — BRHQ

We are marking the sad passing this weekend of our friend Chris Strachwitz, 91, founder of Arhoolie Records @arhooliefoundation, ‘an indispensable label for American Roots music, from blues and zydeco to gospel and Mexican folk, for nearly seven decades.’
No one has meant more to the preservation and appreciation of American Roots music than Chris. Through him I discovered Mississippi Fred McDowell, Memphis Minnie, Clifton Chenier, Flaco Jimenez and so many others. He was as large in personality as he was in stature—full of life and passion for the music he loved. I send condolences to his family and will treasure his memory always.
