9 years ago today, a little indie film called Desert Dancer premiered. It was and still is film about the freedom of expression and how important it is to fight for human rights in our lives today.
We trained with Choreographer Akram Khan (who created the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic Games) six days a week for four months, to master the modern dance moves required for the film and continued to train during the shoot.
Did you know the shoot was banned from Iran so we shot it in Morocco, Paris and London? Paris, France

Cory and I went on date lunch and wanted to bring home leftovers for Rumi but they didn’t have any takeout containers. So the only logical thing was to use Cory’s coffee cup (washed out of course) because there was no way this amazing shrimp and rice was going to waste.

Let’s be honest. Finding friends as an adult isn’t easy. You also don’t have as much time as you once did. You’re no longer being grouped together by a teacher or being being forced through a shared experience. Finding friends is on you. So when you find them it’s that much more special. 🎟️
You have to have the courage to say hi to that nice person in your workout class or at school drop off. Grab a coffee with your colleague! You never know where friendship is waiting. When you find those friendships that just click.. it’s so worth it. Finding those people where the time flies, your thoughts feel safe… and those who only want the best for you is something to not take for granted.
