it’s my gotcha day!! I have officially been apart of my family for 14 years today. The first photo of me was taken June 10, 2012. My family and I were celebrating three years of my adoption! The 2nd photo was taken June 10, 2009. That was when my family legally adopted me, and I was officially my adoptive parent’s daughter. Throughout the years, many questions and assumptions have been said about my adoption. Many ask “Do you ever want to find your birth parents?” or “so your REAL parents didn’t want you?” and others assume I was raised in an orphanage and lived straight out of the movie Annie. My birth parents remain an unanswered question in my life that maybe one day I will learn more about. There will ALWAYS be a piece of me still with them. Although our time together was extremely limited, I hope they know deep down the girl that they created misses them, and always will. I will always miss the idea of them and what we could’ve been. I am so grateful that they chose to give me a better life, one that they knew they couldn’t give me by themselves. my REAL parents will ALWAYS be my adoptive parents. They raised me to be the person I am today. My mother has been my best friend since the beginning, and she loves me more than anything. My dad has been the best father figure to me and is always there when I need him. Without these two, my life would’ve been so different. I love them so much, and although sometimes I can be a bit of a diva (sorry mom and dad!), I need them to know how grateful I am for them. I want to thank everyone who has been supportive of me since finding out about my adoption. I love hearing questions that come out of genuine curiosity and excitement to learn more about my journey.
