Julian Sands. I met you on the set of Rose Red in 2000. A Room With A View was a movie I had seen dozens of times, and I adored you in it. I was so nervous I could barely speak to you. When I did finally tell you what the movie/you meant to me, I was struck by your humility, your lack of ego, the absence of any grandstanding. I got the sense that it was a very special film to you but also just a job, in a long line of interesting, eclectic jobs, all of which you were so grateful to have had. We became fast friends. You bought me so many presents, mostly huge and intimidating non-fiction books and classical music CDs. You found out I’d never been to the opera, and so you came to my apartment one night and picked me up, took me out for champagne, and took me to the opera. You giggled when I yawned. In return, I played you the entirety of Dr Dre’s ‘2001’ , made you talk on the phone with my boyfriend in New Zealand, and agonized with you over whether to see Billy Bragg or Bright Eyes, both of whom were only in Seattle for ONE NIGHT and oh no whatever would I do. You were gracious and patient and tons of fun. We lost touch, but I have never forgotten your kindness and I will never forget you. My heart goes out to your family and loved ones. ❤️
I’m beyond honoured to have received two Emmy nominations this morning!! You know me, I like to talk about everyone so I’m doing two separate posts. This one is about Yellowjackets.

@yellowjackets is an ensemble show in the truest sense of the word and I marvel constantly at the individual talent of each one of these actors. And when they work together, I truly think magic happens. My nomination feels like a celebration of our ensemble, and not a recognition for me. I’m so proud to be part of this group of actors. I could not have better scene partners than this astounding group- @warrenkole, @sarahdesjardins , @jeffholmanofficial @tawnycypress ,@simonekessell, #laurenambrose, @juliettelewis & the miracle that is @riccigrams. I love working with all of you. I’m so lucky and I get to learn from all of you every day. Every new cast member this season added more magic to the ensemble- thank you for being with us @electrice @nicoleamaines @francoisarnaud @nuhajes @nia_sondaya @john_p_reynolds @mr.samersalem @imjennaburgess and Lauren and my sweet friend @simonekessell. #FYC these gorgeous geniuses who could each easily carry their own show, but who we are lucky enough to have as part of our true ensemble. I would say that they are the heart of the show, but I think that title has to go to our kind, super hard-working, brilliant crew, a group of people I feel honoured to go to work with every day. But so much of the reason @yellowjackets is as compelling as it is (besides, duh, the writers, the actual reason the show even exists) is because of this group of people. I really can’t believe that these insanely great actors are all on the same show and that I get to be on it too. Each of them has had amazing star moments this season but like a real team, they have worked together to make every single moment absolutely believable and compelling. Just go down the Supporting Actress ballot and tick off these names, and Lead for Sophie. I’m hoping that one day there is inclusivity in the acting categories so that non-binary actors like Liv feel comfortable submitting. ❤️❤️❤️

It’s taken me a long time to write this post because a) I’ve been afraid of people being like “SPOILER” and b) I kind of love this person too much to put into words. But let me try. @juliettelewis , since I first saw you on screen it’s been one of my dreams to get to work with you. I’m so grateful to @yellowjackets for making the dream come true. I had a beautiful conversation with Lauren Ambrose about what it’s like witnessing your talent (when we caught each other crying after a close-up on you). We ended up agreeing that it’s basically a spiritual experience. You’re channeling something. You are so open and your gift is limitless. You’re electric to watch, and to get to act with you feels like participating in a magic act. You’re the magician, and I’m like the volunteer from the audience who’s going “woah! Crazy!” You’re loving, naughty, wise, and funny. I love sitting and chatting with you, but I also love just watching you pace around and eat approximately ten thousand different snacks in a day. Seriously, an astounding amount of food for such a tiny person. I hope to keep receiving wild Marco polos that feel like Dogme 95 projects from you forever. I hope you feel free and joyful always. I love you JL.

A huge honour to participate in this Hollywood Reporter roundtable! It has been one of my “dare I dream this big??” secret hopes in my heart. And it happened! I was nervous, but instantly put at ease by this incredible group of actors. Every person was warm, funny, very vulnerable, and super smart. I loved getting to talk about our work and our lives.
Thank you, Emma D’Arcy (I can’t @ them but wow what a kind and charismatic person, not to mention a brilliant actor. What they are doing on their show is insanely hard- they make it look effortless, easy, so natural, and there is a ferocity and a depth to their character which is so compelling.) @jennifer.garner (so warm, so giving, super smart and thoughtful, and so grounded, controlled, still and wonderful in the extremely bingeable The Last Thing He Told Me- and if you ask me she was ROBBED of an Emmy for Camping, which you must see if you haven’t, she’s unbelievable in it) @jennifercoolidge, (the one and only! Hilarious, disarming, open, and just so stunningly beautiful and obviously iconically brilliant in The White Lotus, not to mention 1000 others including Best In Show which is one of my favourites of all time) @domfishback (you know how I feel but let me reiterate- this actor is at the top of her game and she’s still so young!! What she’s capable of is astonishing. The range, the character work, the intelligence she brings to her work- her Dre in Swarm is the performance of the year for me and in person she’s no less amazing, I loved getting more insight into her process) and @clairedanes (so smart, super open and really wise. Thinking about the sheer number of performances of hers that have made me uncontrollably weep- it’s crazy!! She has been just so good for so long and somehow manages to give her best ever performance in Fleishman Is In Trouble, which I LOVED) thank you for this day. Thank you @hollywoodreporter, thank you @still_charlie for these great photos, thank you to @jrosensplatt and to @bri_face_killa for working SO HARD and being fun first thing in the morning, thank you @marcusrfrancis & @stephensollitto & @misha_rudolph_stylist for making me feel confident, comfortable & pretty.

The other day I was talking about somebody and I said “he’s a sweet man” and my daughter chimed in “Justin??” If you want to get a sense of how truly good, kind and wonderful @justinlong is, he’s the kind of person who comes to a 4-year-old’s mind immediately when she hears the words “sweet man”. This is not a wonderful photo of either of us but it does a good job of showing the look that’s typically on my face around this person. Just joyfully laughing. Justin, we love you so much. You are such a great writer and director, an incredible actor, and the best friend. I’m so happy you’ve found a beautiful angel with a heart as big as yours (we love you too @katebosworth). I hope this year makes any remaining dreams come true! And to anyone reading this, you can watch Justin and I be very serious parents together in And Then I Go, or be very goofy weirdos together in Lady Of The Manor. And please make sure to watch his INSANELY GREAT performance in Barbarian. Like see it tonight if you haven’t yet. It’s one of my very favourite performances in recent years and a great movie too. 💖
Just a picture of three sweet angels who emotionally devastated me in the most recent episode of @yellowjackets – @stevenakrueger you could not have played those moments more perfectly, the exhaustion, hopelessness, anger, all of it. You’re so consistently brilliant and of course @sammihanratty was so incredible alongside you. Heartbreaking!! @courtneyeaton and @sophie__nelisse your trust in each other and your tremendous talent allowed you both to go to such a raw and powerful place. I cried so much!! No pictures because a)spoilers and b) triggers but wow, all of you 💕💕💕

@lerouxluciano has been so consistently wonderful and this episode is no different- his Javi is coping with unspeakable trauma and you really feel Luciano carrying the weight of that in his performance. His love for the only family member he has by his side is so deep and true! Every moment he has breaks my heart. And he’s the sweetest person ever!! What a love you are, Luciano. I’m lucky to know you!
And @soapy.t – where to begin? First of all, as a person, she is so kind and caring and so authentic. It’s very lucky the show was able to get @juliettelewis to play the older version of Natalie because there are so few people in the world as electric and absolutely themselves and as deeply feeling as Sophie. Juliette is one of those people and the pairing is so magic because even though there’s truly no one like either one of them in the universe, they’ve created a character together who is made up of all those amazing things in both of them jumbled into one beautiful tortured ferocious woman. What Sophie does every episode is amazing, but this episode is beyond. I felt every single second of what she went through. I love how this show slowly peels back the layers of how these women came to be who they are today and i love love LOVE the 90s cast who are just giving their all every single time 💖💖💖

I saw Christina go into the depths of her heart time and again this episode. She was so focused and so vulnerable. Such beautiful work @riccigrams. You’ve created this complicated weirdo who is unlike any woman I’ve ever seen on screen. I love seeing what Misty does in any and all scenarios because it’s always surprising but it’s always the most perfect choice. 💖

How Kevin showed devastation and desperation mixed together into one awful churning thought process, and as always, had such beautiful complicated bonded traumatic depths of feeling with @soapy.t. Kevin you’ve been wonderful since day one and this episode was a real heartbreaker. How lucky we are to have this cast. 💖💖

How lucky I am to get to work so often with these two amazing artists. I mean. How many times have Callie and Jeff surprised people? It’s because of what these two are capable of. Which is anything and everything. They’re both completely unafraid, ready to improvise always, super funny, and then they both have an emotional world that is instantly accessible at all times. Every moment just feels like real life but much much scarier. Warren and Sarah, I hope I know you both forever. I treasure you and I’m so thankful that you two are my pretend loved ones who have become my actual loved ones. ❤️❤️❤️
I loved getting to see a more vulnerable side to Mari this episode- @alexabarajas__ does SUCH a good job with Mari’s cutting remarks and sarcasm, but let me tell you this sweet girl is ACTING!!! This is the kindest person! It is not easy to do what she has done the last two seasons, but she makes it look effortless. She has always given the scenes so much depth and she’s fascinating to watch. She is such a love and I am very excited to see all the layers of this character 💕💕💕
