The feeling of this image took me back to a memory from my childhood. Waking up with fuzzy bed hair, in soft yellow light, eyes not fully open, extending my limbs to stretch out and fill up every bit of space that my body could occupy. Milo, 2 half boiled eggs with toast squares and cuddles provided by one or the other of the loving beings that gave me life; a story coaxed from my father’s imagination, that I listened to in absolute captivation, only to plead for another. There were always morals to the stories he told; little ways to entertain me, spark my imagination and inculcate a sense of understanding about the world and life. I was raised to see the wonder and the sharpness of it. Taught to keep my heart open, but be wary of what could hurt me. I am truly grateful. To live is to grow little tendrils of wisdom, prickles of self preservation; to eke out parts of yourself that make connections with all that exists, to breathe warmth into spaces and lives around you, to cause harm, to create beauty, to effect change. We are indeed complex beings; both wonderful and frightening at the same time. Perhaps we can breathe more softness, more patience and understanding into the way we touch all that surrounds us; stitch our parts of the tapestry with a little more awareness and empathy. Shoutout to the little Golden Tower Cactus existing quite fabulously in a 2 inch pot. ❤️
