Nothing dims the light of growth like using your new-found perspective to highlight where other people are still in the dark. Growth is a gift, don’t weaponize it by judging others for where they are. And don’t get arrogant and forget where you yourself are still in the dark 😉
The sun always rises. Feel it all, live out loud, don’t let other people narrate your story.
Mistakes are a universal experience. The trick is not to avoid them, that’s impossible, the trick is to change how you think about them 😉☀️🩷
Such an incredible time @nashvillepridefestival 🌈🌈🌈
I truly wish ALL people could experience such love, radical acceptance, celebration & belonging in their communities, what a place this world could be 🩷🙏🏻🩷

When pool time turns into an impromptu karaoke session and you really understand how great it is to live in Nashville 🎸🎤 I apologize for the vocals, #patbenatar, I didn’t move here to be a singer 😝
That relief you feel when someone can tame the beast. Thank you for the brilliant haircut @krista_hairstylist 💇♀️

SURPRISE 🎉I’m queer and married to a cis man! I spent so many years afraid that my queerness wasn’t valid because of our relationship and I know lots of folks feel that way (y’all are in my DMs 😂) so I decided to share more of my personal life.
Can you relate? Are you surprised?
To the folks who got married young, had kids, and are grappling with what that means for you, please know your queerness is still queer. Let me know if hearing more about this would be supportive!
Cute lil fit @uniquevintage

Posted @withregram • @maryam_abolfazli_writer Two of Rise’s goals are the freedom and opportunity for all. Today’s Supreme Court decision to knock down affirmative action, further degrades the opportunity for children and youth who are impacted by racism.
In the past, our federal government, especially our Supreme Court, was essential in ensuring that integration and equity be given a shot, especially when Nashville still hadn’t desegregated three years after Brown v Board of Education made it law. But today’s Supreme Court took a distinct turn from that and decided that affirmative action wasn’t necessary.
Intentional programs to ensure that gaps children and youth face because of racism are somehow overcome, even if minimally, are important. Not just for the children affected by racism, but everyone in our society, because it creates true diversity, therefore authentic interaction.
It is through these interactions that we learn of our distinct advantages and disadvantages in this world and work to level the field for all.
It is through these interactions that a Supreme Court justice would know that we have in no way achieved “colorblindness” and must continue these programs.
