World leaders at COP26 recently pledged to stop deforestation by 2030 and to provide $1.7 billion in financing to Indigenous land stewardship. These declarations offer new hope, but decisive action is needed to deliver on its promise.
As the rainforest quickly approaches an irreversible tipping point, we need swift action NOW. This starts with listening to and directing resources to Indigenous peoples who have been on the frontlines defending the forest and our shared planet for generations.
