Daniel Wheeler Instagram – Monday was one of the most stressful days I could’ve imagined. My day started at 4:30am and didn’t end until about 5am the next day.
The feeling of panic as soon as the travel issues started only got worse as the day went on.
I was so worried I was going to miss WrestleKingdom. This was a goal for us for so long. To represent New Japan. To finally perform in the Tokyo Dome. To finally be on a WrestleKingdom after years of contracts and the pandemic making it impossible.
To walk in as the reigning IWGP heavyweight tag champions made it that much better. But as champion, it’s my responsibility to get there.
It was also a chance to see and support friends that we haven’t seen in a long time. The idea that I was going to miss it and also take away those moments from Dax and Bishamon killed me.
It didn’t happen the way I planned or imagined, but when I finally made it, that’s all I cared about.
Once I boarded my flight back home, that’s when I was finally able to sit and process it all. The fact that I made it. The fact we checked another goal off our bucket list. The honor of what New Japan has done for us. Seeing my friends happy. I ain’t ashamed to admit that I got emotional. I’ll still fight you, but I still love y’all. | Posted on 06/Jan/2023 06:03:42
