FAVOURITE BOWIE VIDEO POLL RESULTS – PART THREE
“While colour lights up your face…”
Today’s video grab is from the David Mallet and David Bowie directed Let’s Dance, released forty years ago in 1983.
Mallet was responsible for the direction of more Bowie videos than any other director. In fact, he had a hand in four of today’s five selections.
Here’s the third batch of five in our countdown to #1, as voted for by you.
#12 – Let’s Dance 1983
#13 – Look Back In Anger 1979
#14 – Strangers When We Meet 1995
#15 – China Girl 1983
#16 – Loving The Alien 1985
Tune in tomorrow for Part Four.

FAVOURITE BOWIE VIDEO POLL – UPDATE
“Bow-wow, woof woof, bow-wow, wow…”
The poll has closed, the votes are in and are being counted. We have been overwhelmed by the response to this and the reminder we posted triggered even more entries than the original post.
The vote counter at DBHQ has assured us that the results will be posted over the weekend. Please stop sending now as the poll closed over a week ago.
Meanwhile, why not try to guess the winning video in the comments section. Not necessarily the video you voted as your favourite, but the one you THINK will win.
So as not to give the impression that we’re hinting at the winning video, the image we have used is from a Polaroid taken by Herb Ritts in 1989 and there is no official video for Diamond Dogs.

EASY STAR ALL-STARS ZIGGY STARDUB UK TOUR
“Then we were Ziggy’s band…”
It’s no surprise that David Bowie was a fan of reggae (he singled out both Forces Of Victory by Linton Kwesi Johnson and Funky Kingston by Toots And The Maytals in a list of his favourite albums), and though we would never want to second guess him, we have a hunch he would have enjoyed Ziggy Stardub by @EasyStarAllStars.
Reading through comments on socials, it seems many of you have given the thumbs up to this tribute to Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust album since its release in April.
Issued via Easy Star Records the LP features guest appearances from Macy Gray, Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush) among many others.
If you’re in the UK over the next couple of weeks, you can catch the band behind the record, the superb Easy Star All-Stars, live around England.
Check out the official Easy Star All-Stars page for tickets and their other tributes: https://easystar.com/artists/easy-star-all-stars/#ontour (Linktree in bio)
While you’re there check out the following videos:
“Five Years” by Easy Star All-Stars with Steel Pulse
“Moonage Daydream” by Easy Star All-Stars featuring Naomi Cowan and Alex Lifeson
“Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide” by Easy Star All-Stars featuring Macy Gray

FAVOURITE BOWIE VIDEO POLL RESULTS – PART ONE
“As long as there’s you…”
Phew! Your votes have been counted, and the results collated. We have the winners!
But you didn’t think we were going to post them all in one go, did you? Oh no, we’ll be posting in batches of five per day with the final winning video announced on Friday.
That’s right, that makes 26 in all. Top 26 is the new Top 20 with inflation, and 26 might very well have been Bowie’s favourite number. Unlikely, but possible.
Obviously, there are many that didn’t make the Top 26 of official Bowie videos, but here are the last five of that 26 as voted by you.
#22 – Where Are We Now? 2013
#23 – Absolute Beginners 1986
#24 – Space Oddity 1972
#25 – The Jean Genie 1972
#26 – Be My Wife 1977
Space Oddity may have fared better, but we only counted votes that didn’t stipulate versions other than the accepted official video. So, votes for the original 1969 Love You Till Tuesday and the 1979 Kenny Everett Show versions of Space Oddity weren’t counted.
Tune in tomorrow for Part Two.

PRODUCED BY TONY VISCONTI CD BOX DUE OCTOBER
“They can’t get enough of it all, Listen…”
A 77-track 4-CD box set called Produced By Tony Visconti is released on 20th October and is available to pre-order here now, including a strictly limited edition signed version: http://tonyvisconti.lnk.to/ProducedBy (Linktree in bio)
The set is a career-spanning look at the many artists Tony worked with across a period of more than fifty years.
It’s been said that Tony Visconti ‘probably produced one of your all-time favourite albums’. Now for the first time, Edsel is proud to present the first definitive retrospectives of the legendary Brooklyn-born record producer.
Naturally, one would expect David Bowie to be represented, and he is with the following 4 songs (one on each disc)…
Young Americans (2016 Remaster)
The Man Who Sold The World (2020 Mix)
I Would Be Your Slave
Memory of a Free Festival (2019 Mix)
Of the set, Tony says, “This boxset covers five and a half decades of my efforts in the art of making iconic recordings. Some of it is familiar and some will have a eureka moment, ‘I didn’t know Visconti produced that one!’”
Grammy-winning creatives @barnbrookstudio have designed the artwork, the first two images we have posted are not their work, the third is.
The second image of David in the studio was taken by Tony and is accompanied with a short excerpt of the text regarding I Would Be Your Slave.
The 4CD set is housed in a deluxe 80-page casebound book, with previously unseen photographs, an introduction by Tony, extensive track-by-track liner notes by author and journalist Mark Paytress (including track-by-track commentaries by Tony), and tributes from a selection of featured artists.
The audio for the sets has been mastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Mastering and personally approved by Tony.
Produced By Tony Visconti is available in the following formats, though only the CD set contains Bowie tracks.
