David Bowie Instagram – EASY STAR ALL-STARS ZIGGY STARDUB UK TOUR

“Then we were Ziggy’s band…”

It’s no surprise that David Bowie was a fan of reggae (he singled out both Forces Of Victory by Linton Kwesi Johnson and Funky Kingston by Toots And The Maytals in a list of his favourite albums), and though we would never want to second guess him, we have a hunch he would have enjoyed Ziggy Stardub by @EasyStarAllStars.

Reading through comments on socials, it seems many of you have given the thumbs up to this tribute to Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust album since its release in April.

Issued via Easy Star Records the LP features guest appearances from Macy Gray, Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush) among many others.

If you’re in the UK over the next couple of weeks, you can catch the band behind the record, the superb Easy Star All-Stars, live around England.

Check out the official Easy Star All-Stars page for tickets and their other tributes: https://easystar.com/artists/easy-star-all-stars/#ontour (Linktree in bio)

While you’re there check out the following videos:

Why not start early and commence your evening with a spin of the Cracked Actor live album recorded at the Los Angeles Amphitheatre on 5th September 1974. The very show that can be seen in tonight’s Cracked Actor documentary.

Then after the Baal screening, have a listen to the Baal EP and notice the difference in performance between the BBC versions and the released EP.

If you’ve seen this too late, don’t worry, it will all be available on catch up.
