Jaws in the Shallows isn’t just a tv show, it’s a representation of a greater research project that I am writing up for publication now, in effort to bring better awareness of this endangered species. It’s also a project to help us as ocean users coexist while playing in the sharks domain. I surf in these very waters where there are now Great whites. Time to walk the talk aye;)
Shark Week is about the sharks. Without such a platform, without public engagement and support, without brands supporting it, this wouldn’t happen so thank you all for helping us help the sharks.

It is such a privilege to dive into their world, use science to better understand them, and then share that with hundreds of millions of people around the world. Thank you @discovery channel for making a nature kids dream come true. Not everyday the office involves coming face to face with Great Whites.

Check out why a new population of Great Whites has moved into my backyard.
While populations in other hotspots may be disappearing, right in front of my house they are growing like never before. Join myself and my wife @amberandfriendsphoto while we get answers
The lesser seen but more important part of a shark – the unique markings, scars and pigment line patterns where it goes from grey to white are the key photo identification pieces used to catalogue individuals, create population estimates and track growth. Without these simple tools we would know very little about this pin up shark.
@sharkweek comes out this Sunday in the Northern Hemisphere and a show I worked on with my incredible wife, @amberandfriendsphoto who took this shot, will show how using science enables us to face real fears and tragedy, but in doing so, provide knowledge which stems the unknown and enables coexistence.
