To be young, gifted, and Black. This is an incredible loss. He shared his art with us generously and offered his leadership to us selflessly. I had the opportunity to work opposite Chadwick Boseman for a single day on the film “Marshall”. Only three scenes- I wasn’t there long. But while I was, he was so kind and so calm. So focused. So incredibly present. He radiated an incredible sense of peace, sensitivity, and power. He worked with so much certainty and confidence. And now we know how much strength he carried within him. As I reflect on my short time in Chadwick Boseman’s presence, and from all I’ve observed from admiring his work, I can only think of one quality that encompasses it all: Regal. He showed us what a King should be. Rest in Power. Thank you for sharing your gifts. #wakandaforever
I don’t get it(?) but I accept it. And I think we all need sister support more than ever. Thanks @alishamichelerothman and @dsavre. How are you supporting the women in your life and around the world? #challengeaccepted
When we talk about microaggressions, people almost always talk about “overreaction” and “hypersensitivity” too. So I chose to ignore that in this video because feelings are feelings, having to be “strong” has killed enough minorities, and if you want to talk about “sensitivity”, shout “Racist!” in a crowded room and see what happens.
Anyway. Microaggressions, over the long term, can cause a sort of “death by a thousand cuts”. It’s more than discomfort. They are demoralizing, sometimes painful, but CONSTANT reminders of who you are when juxtaposed against the white/male/hetero supremacist measuring stick of our culture. They suggest the inequity present in this country and the persistent negation of people’s pain and total humanity.
Racism is a Public Health Issue. Sexism is a Public Health Issue. TRANSPHOBIA is a Public Health Issue. We need to take them seriously and small changes can make a big difference. There’s a lot more to say, and I’m NOT an expert on this- so here’s some reading too! #19for20

SUPER IMPORTANT TOPIC Y’ALL!!! They’re all important, but this one means a lot to me personally. So, sometimes people fit into more than one minority group. What then? When we fight for one just part of a person’s identity, we may be ignoring the other parts that deserve attention, representation, respect and protection. For example, Black Lives Matter means ALL BLACK LIVES. I’ll take this moment to say, yet again: Black Trans Lives Matter. Check out @dsavre’s IG for sources and more info. and we’ll be discussing this on Thursday on IG Live at 5pm PST!!!
Hey y’all! It exists! And it doesn’t mean your life hasn’t been hard, but your skin color hasn’t made it harder. We’ll talk more about it on Thursday at 5pm PST. But for now? There’s a million ways the world is designed to make white folks feel comfy and here’s @bretttucker3 talking about a few of them. #19for20
Maybe the internet was also sick of us having to explain white privilege? Can’t even count how many times we had to start again. Thank you for bearing with us! Here are some resources:

@lachiebuch and I are talking about marginalized communities, what we’ve learned during quarantine, getting behind Kamala, and Hermione Granger. #19for20
This was incredible. So great to talk to you guys, and i’m so inspired by all of you! Thanks for the new resources, and if you see this, can you share them in the comments?? Everyone can do something to help push us forward, from having vulnerable conversations with friends and family, to writing a script, to writing to your school board. Thank you all for sharing ❤️
My old friend Palika Makam of @witness_org and I talk #systemicracism and media activism! She’s the absolute greatest and I’m so grateful she took the time to share her expertise! I’ll be sharing some of her resources and info shortly!
@jainaleeortiz is letting us know that activism is for everyone. We can all add our voices to the movement. It’s the only way change can happen. Speak Up, read up, and vote, honey buns!!! #19for20

Thanks for the awesome conversation @thedevinway!!! Once we were just two lil curly head kids looking for direction, culture, and confidence! And now look! Feeling empathy towards yourself is a huge step in feeling it for others. Self-exploration is SO important! Ask yourself the hard questions.
So: Race, Ethnicity, Nationality, Culture.
How do you all choose to identify? Is one category more important to you? Have you asked yourself why?? #19for20

What is it? Why is it? And how does it impact us? @traciethoms is breaking down Qualified Immunity this week. There are battles taking place all over the country right now in an effort to topple this unfair and dangerous doctrine. We MUST be able to hold police officers responsible for their actions. Read up on what it is, and what you can do to help protect and support the victims of police misconduct.

*NEW VIDEO* @greydamon is gonna tell us a little about systemic poverty and how it impacts all of us. BIPOC kids grow up learning “you have to work twice as hard for half as much”, and there’s a reason for that. Get into it! Sources are listed on Grey’s IG.
G’day, guys! @lachiebuch tackled “marginalization” this week. But once you break it down, it’s not that tough to understand. Acknowledge people’s existence and treat them with respect and dignity. 🤷🏾♀️.
