Went to my first football match yesterday and watched @premierleague play stateside (I know I’m the American here but “football” makes more sense and “soccer” doesn’t but hey, a lot of things don’t make sense to me over here)
Also: this month was the first time I found out what it’s like not needing to always have an emergency hair tie on my wrist at all times: very freeing.
A summer of firsts ✔️
📷 by @carolineroses aka that really fun friend you bring to a football match who will split time between chatting but also *actually watching* the game 🤝

Getting out of NYC is really great in the summer. There’s a reason people do it and I’ve been that person before.
This summer I stayed. And instead of being bummed I wasn’t in Positano eating pasta by the beach, I decided to pretend NYC was the destination and fill it up with some yummy memories.
10 small moments out of the 10,000 moments (important to remember and remind: social media is full of tiny fractions of moments) I had during what I named this album “August at Home”.
Not necessarily in any specific order:
1. These days
2. I cook more, and always with lots of garlic.
3. Discovered things like… adorable baby grape sized cucumbers that look like mini watermelons from the farmers market? In a cup I bought from the sweetest shop in Paris this past spring, @boleslove_paris
4. And museums in Queens like the quiet oasis that is the @noguchimuseum .
5. Got distracted & lost in the wood staining of yet another DIY project when my library shuffle reminded me of one of @lilykershaw ‘s old songs. Go check her out, I like promoting really talented but also good people✨
6. Sidewalk Reminders at midnight as July 31st turned into August 1st
7. And book reminders to get out of your own way.
8. Reflective Afternoons of pause
9. Mirror reflections somewhere in Brooklyn questioning if I’ve actually retained the reminders of 6&7
10. And when in doubt of all of it, finding places: to dance.

If you’re not biking around New York while the weather is still warm and the breeze is just slightly cool…. You’re missing out on one of the best ways to explore this playground of a city.
🚲
I watched these 2 strangers sit with each other for a game of chess the other day.
If you live in New York or have been, often you will find folks sitting in parks with a chess board and an empty chair across from them.
It’s a silent offering for whoever wants to sit down can do so for a game.
Watching these interactions always makes me smile.
Sometimes the two people don’t say a word, they just silently play a round or 5 and then they part ways with a handshake.
And sometimes, they strike up a conversation. I have no idea what these two in particular started talking about but they laughed and smiled and played a game of chess with animation.
Even if they only chatted for 20 minutes or 2, they were no longer strangers.
Happy Wednesday, smile at a stranger today ♥️
