Hilarie Burton Instagram – I was given great advice awhile back by my dear friend @tara_shafer to take solo trips with each of my kids whenever I could. That one-on-one attention is so important. So last night, Gus and I trekked to Manteo to catch @thelostcolony show. Fun fact: while everyone else was getting drunk at senior year beach week, I made my friends come to this show with me. The Lost Colony is a HUGE deal if you’re a theater kid from the NC/VA area. It’s the original outdoor drama and is currently in its 86th year….That’s insane! (point of reference, Phantom of the Opera ran for a measly 35 years) So many members of the Outer Banks community have nurtured this show over the years and it’s alumni are a who’s who of familiar tv faces and local heroes. My dude loves theater and so it was fun to go on the backstage tour (thank you to our guides!) where he was allowed to put on Andy Griffith’s armor from his time in the production. Pretty soon this teenager will be too cool for his ol mom, so I’ll take these dates any time I can get em. Xo
