It is home to some of the last Indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation – the Tagaeri, Taromenane and Dugakaeri tribes. But Yasuní’s fate hangs in the balance as a grave threat looms – big oil. The fossil fuel industry’s intended projects would uproot precious ecosystems, causing widespread biodiversity loss and pollution. It would almost certainly cause the genocide of these Indigenous communites. But Ecuador has a historic chance to protect Yasuní’s rainforest. Together, let’s applaud the chance for Ecuadorians to vote in favor of Yasuní.
