Julie Stewart-Binks Instagram – With the start of the @fifawomensworldcup I can’t help but think of the incredible experiences I’ve had covering this tournament dating back to when I cut highlights of the 2011 Women’s World Cup for “Fox Soccer Report” in Winnipeg. The 2015 @fifawomensworldcup in Canada was such a powerful, life changing experience for me, and it challenged me in so many ways but more importantly, introduced me to incredible women around the world. I wanted to share a few highlights (some pictured, some not)

– getting to work with @jennhildreth40 & Kyndra De St. Aubin on our first all-female crew
– becoming friends with journalists around the world and exchanging information, like trying to learn German or Japanese words so I could understand what the keeper was yelling. Me, helping others translate English press
– working with the best damn producer @jeff1889 travelling Canada working 20 games in 30 days including one that was during a layover in Vancouver
– asking Germany’s then-head coach Silvia Neid in a press conference the health of one player and she ended up telling us the starting XI almost by accident, which she said had never happened before
– watching Colombia beat France
– picking up the @fifawomensworldcup mascot (a dream of mine)
– running into my Grandpa, the late honourable Ken Binks, at the Arts Centre in Ottawa
– reading Japan’s Starting XI on @foxsports before the World Cup Final from the USA fan zone
– interviewing German GK Nadine Angerer and a rabbit ran between us
– my old roommate @brennerose including us in her story
– getting to interview @c_sinc12 – one of the greatest athletes of all time
– being asked by @cnn to discuss the @uswnt with @jimsciutto and @poppyharlowcnn in 2019
– commentating on the @uswnt World Cup parade alongside @cbrennansports – a career highlight

All of these women participating have such depth and are incredible athletes. Their stories mirror many women fighting for equality, equal pay, and against harassment. They are such strong people on and off the field. I am forever inspired by this tournament and I urge you to watch, you’ll feel it too.
