HISTORY MADE 2023:
The perigee burn onboard successfully raised the orbit to 288 kms into 369328 kms where the spacecraft entered into the moon’s sphere of influence. Indian Space Research Organisation had successfully injected Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into the translunar orbit on 31st July 2023.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 by GSLV Mark III launcher. The spacecraft successfully completed a 40-day journey to make a soft landing near the Moon’s south pole on August 23rd.
India is now the fourth country to achieve this feat and the first to land softly near the lunar south pole.
