The @CHANEL legacy of fostering female creativity lives in THROUGH HER LENS a program at @Tribeca that supports emerging self identifying women and non-binary film makers. These artists focused on the future of art, and I’m so excited to celebrate them today. #ChanelTriBeCa2023

Last night, we hosted Lakota twin sisters, Sarah Eagle Heart and Emma Eagle Heart-White, for their memoir WARRIOR PRINCESSES STRIKE BACK! A memoir chronicling their experiences growing up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and exploring the possibility of healing intergenerational and personal trauma.
The sisters are pictured here with champions of the book, Piper Perabo (who also moderated an AMAZING discussion) and Mark Ruffalo.

As a result of Hurricane Hilary on the West Coast, heavy rains flushed out an immense amount of pollution from storm drain systems right into our waterways. We encourage you to sign up and volunteer for a beach cleanup with your local chapter. Not only can you help remove trash from our beaches, but you can also help pass plastic reduction laws and policies that prevent pollution in the first place. Reposted from @surfrider but I will put the volunteer link in my bio so join me and sign up.
Hat tip to the awesome @ericbalfour who’s feed I saw this on 🌊♥️

I am leading a team in raising funds for TiKVA Children’s Home, The war in Ukraine is still very real for our community as they live as refugees in Romania or in the darkness in Odessa. TiKVA is working around the clock to evacuate and care for thousands. We need your help to help them SURVIVE & THRIVE.
We are running a crowdfunding campaign to raise $5 million in 36 hours. Every dollar donated will be doubled by generous matchers so if you’re able to give, now is the time!

Whales are a keystone species, and critical to the health of the ocean and the battle against climate change.
But more than that, whales are beautiful.
Fin whales, the second largest animal on the planet, are thoughtful, sentient creatures who communicate though song.
And, as an endangered species, fin whales are protected around the world. But Iceland continues to hunt these magnificent animals.
The Icelandic government made a courageous decision in June to suspend whaling this summer, and we applaud that.
But now Iceland is considering whether to allow whaling to start again in September.
We urge the Icelandic government not to allow the hunting of fin whales.
And your voice matters. Please write to Svandís Svavarsdóttir, the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries who is making the decision, and to Katrín Jakobsdóttir, the Prime Minister of Iceland, and tell them you support their decision to end whaling, and not to allow it to start again in September.

Together we can end whaling for good.

Ever since I saw a film of @nickcaveart Soundsuits dancing on his Instagram, I have been waiting to see his art in real life. Finally it happened, his show #forothermore at @guggenheim will bend your imagination and open your eyes. Run don’t walk, or better still, dance over there. (A curator told me Cave recommends seeing the floors in the order 4, 2 then 5. It is cool that way.) ✨✨✨✨✨🖤🌸

Nick Cave’s (@nickcaveart) art practice interrogates promises, fulfilled or broken, that late 20th and early 21st centuries offered to the “other.”
Our newest exhibition, “Nick Cave: Forothermore,” highlights the development of Cave’s work while creating space for those who feel marginalized by dominant society and culture—especially working-class communities and queer people of color. – @guggenheim

Fifty-nine years ago today, civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer took the stage at the Democratic National Convention and fearlessly asked, “Is This America?”
Fannie’s testimony unveiled the horrors of systemic racism and the brutal violence that she and her fellow Black Americans faced when attempting to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
Fifty-nine years later, the fight for freedom continues.
Today, voter ID laws and other voting restrictions disproportionately impact people of color, making it harder for Black voters to cast a ballot and make their voices heard.
We’re working every single day to dismantle these barriers.

People shouldn’t have to choose between buying groceries or paying for the care they need. The cost of care is way too high and most people in the U.S. are left with impossible choices everyday. That’s why I’m standing with the tens of thousands of people who are demanding better care policies so that care workers, family caregivers, older adults, and people with disabilities aren’t left behind. You can join us, too. We’re making 2023 the #YearOfCare. Go to the link in @caringacrossgen bio to tell Congress that #CareCantWait.
