Thank you to everyone who joined @standup_america and @votefwd tonight to get out the vote in Ohio next month! Just yesterday, we learned that abortion rights advocates have met the signature requirement to place a measure on the Nov. 7 ballot that would codify abortion rights into the state constitution! So it’s even more important we turn out Ohio voters this August to ensure that the threshold to pass citizen-led popular ballot measures remains at 50%. If you missed the party, it’s all good. There’s still time to write letters. Learn more at votefwd.org/standupamerica

Hydrangea season begins.
“He called hydrangeas purple. And they were.
Not fixed and deadly, (like a curving line
That merely makes a ring).
It was a purple changeable to see.
And so hydrangeas came to be.”
-Wallace Stevens – first stanza of Anecdote of the Abnormal

As we celebrate #Juneteenth, let us keep in mind that African Americans during the Civil War distinguished between *abolishing slavery* and *freeing people.* Many formerly enslaved people did not feel *free* in 1865 and thereafter, and they clearly articulated why. A thread
