Victorian-made trains, in a Victorian-made tunnel. It doesn’t get better than that.
The word legend is used a lot. But nobody deserves it quite like Ron Barassi. He didn’t just play the game – he reshaped it. And how fitting that last night’s game was a cliffhanger between the Dees and the Blues. The government will offer Ron’s family a state funeral to remember him – and I hope they accept. Vale Ron.

Gold sky at night, level crossing remover’s delight.
Today, Michael Long finished his long walk to Parliament House in Canberra. He’s covered more than 650 kilometres since setting off from Melbourne 19 days ago. And it’s not the first time he’s done it. Back in 2004 he made the same journey to ask the Prime Minister to improve the life expectancy and employment prospects of Indigenous Australians. And he asked “where is the love for our people?” 19 years on – he’s asking us all the same question. And on October 14 we’ve got an opportunity to answer. Michael – thank you so much for everything you do.

A couple of years ago, the sewer system in Carlton’s old red brick housing towers gave up – and the experts say it would be impossible to retrofit them to bring them up to standard. So along with the Albanese Government we’re going to completely rebuild them. And when it’s finished, there’ll be even more social housing on the site than there was before. Meaning more homes for the Victorians who need them most. And there’s nothing more important than that.
A couple of years ago, the sewer system in these towers gave up – and the experts say it would be impossible to bring these 1960s buildings up to standard. So with help from the Federal Government, we’re going to rebuild them with more even social housing than was there before. Building even more homes for the Victorians who need them most.
You’ve only got until Monday 8pm to enrol to vote in the referendum. Check your details are up to date, then ask a mate to check theirs too.
We’ve expanded the Sick Pay Guarantee to another 400 jobs. Including these.
Wide collars, savoury jelly salads and mission brown everything. Some things from the 70s shouldn’t make a come back. With one exception: Free training for secondary school teaching is returning in 2024. Groovy.
If you’re looking for paint swatch inspiration: look no further. This is @metrotunnelvic’s newest emergency exit built in South Yarra. And now we’re another step closer to finishing the biggest transport project our state’s ever seen.
