If you asked me to name the best days of my life – this one is right up there. In that moment, absolutely everything changes. And nothing really can prepare you for it. First comes the rush of love, the adrenaline. And then the sleepless nights – and frankly, a bit of anxiety. That’s why we’re helping set up new dad groups. They’ll be places for new dads to get together, share their experiences, and help each other out. Just like mums groups, they’ll focus on things like bonding, self-care, and gender equality in parenting too. Some groups already exist, and we’re helping make sure there are groups for dads across the state. Applications for grants to start a group open tomorrow. In the meantime – happy fathers day.
Imagine this: a tour of the seven continents. Getting up close with the most remarkable animals. And your guide is none other than David Attenborough. It’s the BBC Earth Experience – and Melbourne will be just the second city in the world to see it. The experience takes you on 360-degree journey around the world, using footage from the BBC, all narrated by David Attenborough. It kicks off at the Melbourne Convention Centre on 27 October. And tell your friends in Sydney – because the only place you’ll see it in Australia is right here.

Bit of a long one. We’ve just expanded the Sick Pay Guarantee to cover thousands of Victorian casual workers, in hundreds more jobs. Because nobody should have to choose between looking after their health, and putting food on the table. To sign up head to vic.gov.au/sick-pay-guarantee

AFLW’s officially back. Game on.
A lot has changed since the 80s. Leg warmers, waterbeds and Walkmans are out. But city-shaping transport projects are very much still in.

Not every child learns in the same way, or at the same pace. That’s why we started the tutors in schools program. More than 100,000 students have had help from a tutor so far. And now we’re extending it to 2025. It means students can get a helping hand, without the need to pay for expensive after-school sessions. Because every child, no matter their background, deserves the very best education.

Rain, hail, or shine – it’s finals time.
It might look like any other apartment development, but this one is special. Because this one includes 73 new social housing apartments – even though it’s being built by private developers. And today we’ve announced we’re going to make this happen far more often. We’re setting up new loans to encourage developments just like this one which will include homes for Victorians who need them most. It means when developers and investors are deciding what to build, it’ll make more sense to include social housing. It’ll add another 6,000 social and affordable to the thousands we’re building as part of the Big Housing Build. And most importantly, more Victorians will have a place to call home.
Question: how do you take 9,000 trucks off local roads, slash travel times, and deliver the vital second West Gate crossing? Answer: like this.
If you live in an apartment, I’ve got some good news. We’re making it easier for you to get solar. Until now it’s been too hard and expensive for most apartments to get cheaper, cleaner energy. That’s why we’re starting a new program to put more solar panels on apartment blocks, in partnership with the Albanese Government. It’ll mean apartment residents – whether you rent or own – can all get the benefits. It makes sense, and we’re getting on with it.
BBC Earth Experience – narrated by David Attenborough – is coming down under in October. And the only place you’ll see it is right here in Victoria.
This week our new Women’s Health Council met for the first time. It’ll mean women’s voices are better listened to when it comes to their healthcare. But rather than me tell you about it, I thought I’d ask Kat: ————— Endo is a disease with no cure. One in nine women will have endo, making it as common as asthma or diabetes. But unlike asthma and diabetes it was rarely talked about until recently, comes with stigma and a long diagnosis delay. For me the delay was 17 years. 17 years of missed work. 17 years of missed uni. 17 years of missed travel, relationships and opportunities. 17 years of lots of pain and heartache. And 17 years of seeking medical help and not once being believed or heard. My story is not unique. Hundreds of thousands of Victorians will have a similar story. We need to do better. We need to listen to women. The new Women’s Health Council is a group of powerhouse women, and we know we stand on the shoulders of giants. Women who for years used their voices, but weren’t heard. Women who suffered in silence. And who have worked hard to make it better. The Council exists to listen to all those who haven’t been seen, believed or heard. We’ll amplify the voices of the half of our population who have been under-researched, under-diagnosed and under-represented. And we’ll help ensure that every Victorian woman receives the medical care that they need – and that it’s safe, affordable and culturally appropriate. The next generation of women are going to have a completely different experience to mine – and that’s exciting. Kat Stanley Member of Victoria’s Women’s Health Advisory Council
We’re putting hundreds more mental health beds where they’re needed most. And it just makes sense that the Victorians who know the system best help to design these spaces.
