@taylormomsen has been all grown up for a long time, but I’ve barely seen her. Back in June, before the SAG-AFTRA strike, we reconnected for a conversation on @podcrushed that left me feeling so wholesome. She’s thriving, and refining her lifelong craft as a musician. I’m so happy for you, Taylor. 💜💜
1) checking in to see if it will help bring attn to my stories bc #RemainInMexico was blocked! Huge win for people seeking asylum in the US, see @tahirihjustice for more info. 2) no worse angle for a mustache can be found, but 3) you can see my friends’ artwork @mr.luke_temple and @sky_gl in the top corner

The question was asked re: US-Mexico border “so what do we do, let everyone in?” In reply, some thoughts, clarifying points on all this talk re: my trip to US-Mexico border—as best as I can gather my thoughts now amidst the chaos of family holiday goings & doings. Thank you for engaging!

Happy birthday, Dom. A super-brief review of your invisible qualities: A truly radiant soul, you seem to spark alight almost everyone you meet, like a 99% success rate. It’s really impressive, and quite mysterious. You encourage others to be honest, and brave, and gentle, and expansive. Your great capacity for empathy is obvious, something anyone can get warm by like a glowing stove. Your desire to be of service to others is miraculous. It is in your DNA. In pictures as a very young child, you exude it—a great care and sweetness; an invitation. You make others happy by you. For me, it is a joy to witness you when you are happy. For you, I always hope to be a source of joy. I’m really glad we’re married.

Tuesday April 21 / 12pm PST I’m talking to @rainnwilson live (through @soulpancake) about… honestly I don’t know yet but he does this every day at 12 noon PST in the spirit of the times.
This is “the wall” we’ve heard so much talk about. It’s important to learn for ourselves, if we’re able. I went with @tahirihjustice to witness & ask questions.
Juárez, Mexico – Inspired by the strength of people I met struggling to protect themselves & their families from violence. One man lived in US for 22 yrs working construction, literally building property here. He left the country, later tried to return & was kidnapped in Mexico. (There is a unique violence migrants face who are forced to remain in Mexico.) He heard his captors sharpening knives when he ran for his life, which he only had the courage to do bc he faced death. We were able to laugh about this. It was just as crazy to him as it was to me. He used to live in Chicago. Now, in Juárez, in a crumbling shelter beautiful for the bright souls it contains but not a permanent home.
El Paso, Texas – people detained on US soil face prison conditions, but they have no sentence. No timeline. There is no criminal penalty for entering the country—it’s a civil penalty. Very different, and technical. It begs the question Why? & for a serious examination of the history of racism in our country. Do we accept the labels given to others we don’t know? Are we learning for ourselves? I want to explore this & other questions TMRW ON INSTAGRAM LIVE 2pm EST, speaking w/ a lawyer, advocate & friend who knows this work inside & out. There is no easy answer and it is important that we understand better what’s happening on the borders of our own country.
Friday Apr 10 • 2pm EDT • I’m talking to @drnuramowzoon here LIVE in the spirit of COVID-19: relationships & how the pandemic is affecting them. Bc relationships keep going, quarantine or not, and they’re really what make up our lives. How we treat people, how we are treated. Dr. Nura’s specialty is counseling in relationships and I have done this ONCE before. Total pro 😉 hey comment here or DM @drnuramowzoon to ask us questions you have *about this topic* otherwise byeeee
4 April 9pm EST / 5 April 11am AEDT // DM @anisekofficial if you want to send us questions or reflections that pertain to our changing state during this pandemic. You can also comment here, or tune in and ask live.
How do you imagine the path the world is on? What does the term “oneness” mean to you? In the closing days of 2019, consider the luminous figure of the Báb, born 200 yrs ago. His teachings rocked a nation to its core—the Persian and Ottoman empires never did recover—laying the foundation for the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh which sent shockwaves throughout the world, alerting people to the need for an evolution in the consciousness of humankind. At only 25 yrs old, in 1844, the Báb inaugurated a new era in religious history, later magnified by Bahá’u’lláh. Pivoting entirely around the aim of recognizing and bringing to life the fact that humanity is one, the worldwide Bahá’í community continues exploring & striving to understand the progressive messages of the the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh. In service to others, through belief in the power of unity, it is possible to develop bonds of friendship & trust which can dissolve longstanding personal prejudices and systemic injustices. Bahá’u’lláh says, “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.” Despite the painful spasms of war & strife, one simply can’t deny our ever-advancing civilization here on earth. We are one great, complex family. To me, that means the pain of a single member is the pain of every member. So, what does the term “oneness” mean to you? (Continue explorations at Bahai.org or @bahaiworldnewsservice )
Today marks the 40 year anniversary of the hanging of 10 young Bahai women in a town square in Shiraz, Iran. They were each forced to watch the hanging of the other women in a harrowing attempt to cause them to recant their faith. None did. The youngest was 17.
Their story reminds us of all the brave and bold youth in the world today, willing to sacrifice social status, time, energy and even their lives for causes they believe in. Their stories are our stories. Our stories give us hope. Our story is one. #ourstoryisone @ourstoryisone
Somehow we got @roywoodjr on this week’s @podcrushed OUT NOW! I really love this episode personally, please check it out #podcrushed #roywoodjr

@younetflix creator @seragamble is on @podcrushed 🥹 so it’s a FAREWELL EPISODE: Sera is leaving the show, and the show will be leaving us all soon, and Joe will be in purgatory forever. Plenty of BTS bits, and Sera tells some of the most perfectly crafted coming-of-age stories we’ve had. This may be your favorite. It might be mine. #podcrushed #younetflix
