I was sickened to discover this morning that not one but three of my books appear in this list without my or my publisher’s permission— it’s a list of all the books being used for generative-AI system training purposes called Books3, created by Meta, Bloomberg and others. (Did I mention without permission? Without permission.) You can see my name and the three books (poetry, non-fiction and fiction) come up as a matched search on the second slide in this post. Versions of this are happening in the entertainment industry, which is why Writers and the WGA went on strike for over 100 days, and SAG-AFTRA is still on strike.
I’m so disheartened to see my books being used in this way without my permission, and though I don’t quite know where to go from here, you can trust the triple Taurus in me WILL fight this, in every way possible. Please spread the word.
