Cinta Laura Kiehl Instagram – My dad turned 73 yesterday.

He’s in great condition and looks younger than most his age. When I look at him, I still see the same man I did as a child, strong and active. However, I know that this perception of mine, is biased. My dad isn’t getting any younger and it scares me to know that the average life expectancy of a Central European man is about 83. As much as I’d like to believe that my dad still has many many many years in him, life is unpredictable. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. I’ve never been much of a family person, but knowing that most people in my position may/may not have their fathers in another decade, is terrifying. 10 years can go by in a blink of an eye.

If you’re someone like me, obsessed with work and can forget about everything and everyone in the process, I suggest you evaluate what matters to you. I’m still not great at spending time with my parents, but I try to come see them on special occasions, even if that means taking a flight to be with them for less than 48 hours. I believe that it’s truly quality over quantity.

So here I am spending my weekend with my parents, to celebrate my teddy bear, father. Doing my best to love and appreciate him in ways that I can.
