If you’ve been watching our show on @magnolianetwork , you may have seen the episode where we went back to my dad’s childhood home to collect the bedroom furniture, art, and all of the many knick-knacks that he grew up with. Charlie has this cute little room of of his bedroom that I have dubbed his “sleepover room”. Although none of his friends will ever sleep in it because they think it’s too scary (one of the stipulations that come with living in a 200 year old house). The room was really meant to be an ode to my dad and the time period when he grew up, complete with the old relics on full display, that I found stuffed in his bedroom drawers. He’s probably going to be mad that I just called his things relics. Anywho, if you watch the episode, then you will also know that I gave the room a fishing theme as a way to poke a little fun at him because one time I found an old fishing scrapbook that he made, where he cut out magazine and newspaper images of fathers fishing with their sons. My dad has always been a terrible fisherman and he told me that he made that scrapbook one day because he had always longed for his dad to teach home how to fish, but he never would. So I proceeded to give this entire room a fishing theme, from the fishing lure wallpaper by @abnormalsanonymous, to the fishing net-reminiscent light by @straydogdesigns. I even had @benkoman hand carve and paint a fish for me to mount the light fixture on. Well, the day of filming rolls around and Grumpy decides to wait until the cameras are rolling to tell me that the entire story was made up. It was a school project and he’s always hated fishing. So, I guess the joke was on me. As usual. At least I got a cute room out of it. The lesson here? Grumpy is not to be trusted. Bedding by @annieselke

It’s taken me a while to share the images from our season finale but it was truly one of my favorite projects. This home will always have a special place in my heart because it used to belong to my dear friend @laurensouthdown and the new owner @themintgardener is just a peach of a human. I can only hope that we did them both proud. Thank you to all of our partners who helped bring this one to fruition, including @meganmcwil who pulled out her secret chandelier painting skills in the 9th hour ✨ If you aren’t caught up yet, all episodes are now steaming on MAX! @magnolianetwork #happytobehome
Some bits and pieces that defined my Summer: 1. This one was hard. I lost my sweet Lexx. He held on strong and was my faithful friend and companion for 21 years. I never thought he would be ready to go but on this day I walked in and found him and knew he was ready. My heart still hasn’t healed and I still have to fight the instinct to look for him around every corner. 2. I found myself feeling more grateful than ever for this amazing family of mine. To put my sister’s height into perspective, I am 5’9”. 3. Tried to spend as much time as I could with these two, when they weren’t off at camp, or sleeping at friend’s houses, or I wasn’t working. Life gets so much more hectic as your kids get older. It’s true what they say. 4. Shopping trips with my number one girl. 5. Found myself retreating a lot to the fresh air and comfort my backyard when I needed to reset my emotions and center myself. Lying on my back in my swing, looking up at the live oaks and listening to the birds, might be my new favorite past time. 6. Turned 42 and celebrated with some of my nearest and dearest. 7. Worked way too hard but got better at multitasking. 8. Retreated to the Tea Farm with @42pressed when my soul needed a recharge. 9. Went on a mother/daughter girl trip and it was everything. 10. Dressed in pink and went to the opening night of the Barbie movie, like the rest of the planet. Cried twice.

Portrait of a mom who has spent the last hour melting in the 95° humidity whilst judging three boys and their “coolest dive” competition. My standards are high and morale is getting low.

This is your gentle reminder to take photos of your life, of yourself while you are young, of the special moments and the mundane (because one day the mundane will feel special, I promise you). But PLEASE, in this digital world that we live in, do yourself a favor and print them out, buy a Polaroid camera, make physical photo albums like our parents and grandparents did, do whatever you have to do to keep these glimpses of your past forever. Your children and your 80-year-old self will thank you.
#LOrealParisPartner Kids, dogs, and life. These are all things that I can contribute to my greying hair. Luckily, @lorealparis is there to help trick people into thinking that maybe I’m not a 42 year old mom who is probably barely keeping her life together. The liquid gel formula provides 8 weeks of fade resistant, gorgeous, color that makes it look like I just stepped out of a salon, without ever having to leave the comfort of my own home. Which allows me to spend more time doing the things that give me grey hairs. It’s a vicious cycle. #lorealparispreference #haircolor

I attempted to make a cooking video. “Attempted” really being the key word here. I’m happy to report, I did not get worms. 📹: @dynesmedia
In honor of today being her 95th birthday and in light of the fact that there was just a congressional hearing about aliens being real, I thought I would share this video with you of my Granny recounting her very own UFO experience. (A couple of years ago, I set out on a mission to record as many of my grandmother’s stories as possible, while she could still tell them. This is the first one I have decided to share. Not many things make me happier than listening to her sweet southern drawl so I hope you enjoy listening to her stories as much as I do ❤️).
#AD Being a teenager can be really hard sometimes. Farris came out of the womb with a confident quirky spirit, unlike any other I have ever come across. She knew exactly who she was and was never afraid to show it to the world. As she got older and entered her pre-teen years, that confidence started to wain (as it does for many of us). It is one of our most important roles as parents to remind our children of their self-worth and to help them feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. @dove is helping with this endeavor by partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to educate kids about positive body image. For every $30 spent on eligible Dove products purchased at @bjswholesale, Dove will donate $5 to the Boy’s & Girls Clubs of America and give the member $5 Instantly. #DoveSelfEsteem #LetsChangeBeauty #DovePartner
