Staying at @theleelapalaceudaipur feels like being transported to another realm- of grandeur, opulence, heartwarming hospitality and incredibly fine taste. A unique interpretation of Indian luxury, the Leela celebrates each hotel through its unique location, art, architecture, culture and cuisine with thoughtful services, celebratory rituals, and immersive experiences capturing the essence of India and the richness within.
Art is beauty and here at The Leela, they understand the emotions that beauty and art can evoke. And the visual treat here evokes a lot. Be it a sculpture in a hallway, the carving on a staircase, the coloured marble inlays on a ceiling panel, or traditional paintings on the walls, each of these elements has been specially curated to leave you with a sense of awe-inspiring wonder.
The Leela Palace Udaipur has an exquisite collection of Indian art forms, spiritually inspired installations, larger-than-life paintings, striking sculptures and much more, each harnessing different mediums and sensibilities.
And it’s not just a house of pretty things- it’s a mansion of fine art.
The Leela in Udaipur brings to life the ancient art and craftsmanship of Mewar. Forgotten Indian crafts like Tarkashi work, Tekhri and Bidri were placed at a place of prominence in an effort to preserve Indian tradition.
I am in awe of the mirror in lay work ( Tekhri) that adorns the walls of every room, the courtyard – in fact everywhere!
Our abode during the stay was the Royal Suite- stunning in every way. From the high ceiling dome adorned by an enormous chandelier to the silver artwork , and beautifully crafted furniture, the beautiful paintings – every thing is curated with a fine eye for detail. From the silver art work, the furniture, the paintings and even the rare coffee table books.
Nothing I write or pictures I share can possibly do justice to the incredible visual journey that one is taken on here at the Leela Palace Udaipur – and so I can only offer a glimpse.😅
And a big THANK YOU.❤️

Let me start by saying that I’m not a foodie. For those of you, who know me or have followed me, you’ll see that I hardly ever post about food. I eat to live. But all that changed in the last two days spent at @theleelapalaceudaipur . And how!
Where does one even begin to describe the experience that the Leela Hotels pride themselves on curating. I could go on and on about the stunning artwork, and architecture, interiors, collection of contemporary art but more about that later. Or about the incredible warmth that is exuded by every single person you come into contact with. Starting with GM, himself!
I’m on a very strict food regime prescribed by @sharmashalvi and the signature wellness menu Aujasya – was a great fit-a perfect balance of taste and nutrition with guilt free indulgence.
Both Chef Ravish and Roopak crafted the finest food for us. From Pan Asian to authentic Rajasthani food with its robust spices – incredible!
On our first evening we dined at the famed Sheesh Mahal ( rated one of the most romantic restaurants in the world by Architectural Digest US and) and enjoyed the incredible food prepared by Chef Roopak and traditional breads made by Neetu ji on a traditional fire. Neetu ji is
Palace associate by day and spends time at the restaurant in the evening churning out traditional rotis.
The next evening was at the Sheesh Mahal terrace with Chef Ravish curating the most incredible thali ever ( last photo)
The resplendent City Palace bedecked by night, the serenity of Lake Pichola coupled with the flavours of Royal Dining made these evening unforgettable!
And yes, I’m a certified foodie now. As long as the food is from Aujasya .

But what brings it all to life – the great food , beautiful surroundings- is the warmth that is exuded by every single person one comes into contact with. And the effort put it make even the routine special and memorable. From the serene boat ride to the rose petal shower welcome, to the warm smiles that touch the eyes- guests are truly treated like the Gods! “Atithi Devo Bhava”…. Guest is God is something they don’t let you forget. 🤩
It starts with a traditional welcome with a lamp and pushes the envelope at each step with personalised experiences. Sonal our butler, anticipated every move and never left our side. She was our single point of contact before, during and even after our stay and ensured every need was met and our stay was personalized with her thoughtful and anticipatory service.
(The Palace Service Associates are trained by Anthony Holland the Founder of the British Butler Guild.)
The personal involvement of Chef Ravish and Roopak in all our meals (and constant follow up) was both mouth watering ( with the stories they told us before each dish) and heart warming.
When I wanted to learn how to make the Himalayan red rice bowl, that Chef Ravish made for us, he took out time to teach it to me.
The Chef team and our dear Sonal also arranged for me to learn how to make the bajra choorma. When I just mentioned it in passing that I would love to learn how to make it.
I was overwhelmed. To say the least. That every wish literally of mine they took as a command. I’ve never felt more like a queen before.
I believe great hospitality and service (always flows from the top. Nishant the GM leads from the front and by example. Involved with every guest ( not just us😅) he personally sees to the smallest details and I believe that sets the tone for how every hotel associate interacts with guests.
Last, but not least, I finally solved the mystery of how and why every Leela Hotel smells heavenly. It’s Tishya – the fragrance that’s everywhere.
Inspired by the ancient Sanskrit word that describes ‘a sense of joy and happiness’, and is inspired by lotus and the wonder flower, Neelakurinji that blossoms once in 12 years.
