Dreams do come true. The nature show that inspired me as a kid is coming back @nbc & asked me to join as co-host. I heard 30 years of “no” and today was the first “yes.” Let’s go @wildkingdomtv @peterwgros @hearstmpg #ProtectingTheWild
It’s been over 1 month since we announced the return of the iconic show @wildkingdomtv & my role as the newest co-host. It still feels surreal, except when i’m huffing & puffing, sweating profusely on camera and avoiding wild animal bites. As a trained biologist, I’m able to get up close & personal with many of these animals, but please don’t do this at home
1: Argentinian Tegu
2: Press Release Day
3: No spoilers but trust me it’s GOOD
4: A different type of surreal feeling 💅🏾
5: The hardest working crew
6: The man, the myth, the legend, my co-host and new bff @peterwgros
7: Episode 1 wrap 🎬
8: The original show that inspired my career

Human in costume or bear?
My April in reverse. The month ended with me hiring a babysitter only to go the the locker room of the gym, sit in the sauna for 20 minutes, grabbing a burger & fries, and going home. It was a beautiful, busy month where I blew my own mind by *finally* turning in the first draft of my book, SPEAKING AT THE @whitehouse, and finally starting the garden that I promised my kids years ago.
Additional highlights include adopting a blueberry bush, twinning w my girl @ayanaeliza in @patagonia, seeing my house from the plane, the briefest few hours in nyc, good lighting at my desk, and spying on the hummingbird nest 🪺
Onward, May ✌🏾 🌍

On Thursday I existed as a person outside of science, travel, media, & motherhood for a solid 2 hours and it was glorious. I drank coffee, ate insane amounts of Greek food, made my way to the gym only to sit in the hot tub (a trend at this point 😅), and ignored my unanswered emails and texts. Proof of real life ✌🏾 Cajé Coffee Roasters

The countdown is on! Less than 1 month until @wildkingdomtv premiers on @nbc 🙏🏾. Co-hosting this show has been the realization of a childhood dream, and I can’t wait for more of the world to see what we’ve been working on. Nature storytelling has never been better 🌍

I’m teaming up with @KodiakCakes to promote awareness for the conservation needs of the 8 species of bears around the world – so you KNOW this campaign is close to my heart! Their #KodiakKeepItWild program gives 100% of proceeds of the artistic gear designed by @rayco.design to bear conservation. And 5 of you can get your own! Like this post, and comment with your favorite bear species for a chance to win your own Kodiak swag bag so you can promote bear conservation wherever you go

Can you value the benefits of nature?
That’s where Ecosystem Services comes in.
Talking to the all-knowing Professor @raewynngrant, one of my all time favorite voices in understanding and protecting nature, newly announced host of NBC’s Wildlife Kingdom, and Head of Science for Ethic Nature.
Here we chat about Ecosystem Services, a topic that comes up more and more as people realize what we’ll be losing if we don’t stop biodiversity from declining at the current rate it is falling (which is our goal here at Ethic Nature):
• Ecosystem services are vital for human wellbeing and survival as they provide essential benefits like clean air, freshwater, fertile soils, climate regulation, and pollination, all of which underpin our food security and health.
• They also hold immense economic value: for example, pollination services from insects are estimated to contribute over $200 billion to the global economy annually, while nature-based solutions can be cost-effective alternatives to engineered infrastructure, saving governments billions of dollars.
• Lastly, these services play a key role in cultural and social contexts, offering recreational, spiritual, and educational experiences that enrich human lives, promote community cohesion, and can drive sustainable tourism.
